The Appointment of Judges

The Prime Minister has announced that judges would be chosen by a Commission specially set up for this purpose.

2. No details have been made public as to the way the Commission would work.

3. Would the Commission actually appoint the judges or would it only recommend the names for the PM to approve or would the Commission recommend directly to the Agong for him to exercise his prerogative? Or would the Agong require the approval of the Rulers Conference? Or would the Conference of Rulers be merely consulted as is done now? Or would they be able to reject the candidate, and ask for new candidates or name new candidates of their choice?

4. It would be interesting to know the full details of the procedures, above all with regard to the role of the PM.

5. The appointment of judges is provided for in the Constitution. If changes are to be made in any way, they must be considered as in breach of the Constitution.

6. To make the changes legal, the Constitution has to be changed.

7. As everyone knows changes in the Constitution can only be made if two-thirds of the members of Parliament in session agreed with the proposed changes.

8. The Government does not have the necessary two-thirds majority. By itself it will not be able to change the manner with which the judges are chosen. It can only do so if the opposition supports it by at least nine votes.

9. Is the Government proposing to work with the opposition on this issue, and so display its weakness? Will there be a quid pro quo, a bargain with the opposition? It would be interesting to see how the PM proposes to deal with this.

Hi dear esteemed ex-PM Tun Dr Mahathir:

Welcome to Blogsworld, we just had a Bloggers initiative called BUM2008 (Bloggers Uiverse Malaysia). Just backgrounding here -- I have covered you in office a little as MSM journalist, and when you "retired" as a Blogger, including your dialogue with a group of Bloggers at Perdana Leadershipthe blogswagon a month earlier, VVe at BUM2008 OC would have invvited you as a Speaker. The bum2008 was held First of May at Lake View, Subang Jaya, and of course, your beloved daughter spoke at BUM2007:).

I hope we will engage more at cyberworld -- I was the knotty wan who asked the q about Petronas and its revenues and profits being not truthfully reported, and your comment as a "Malay" adviser was as expected in the "person" media people have/had/will continue to expectas you make good "copy",thanks for the kopi and kuih-muih2! Blogspeak and some DDC from a "Midnight Voiz" at wok hear, LOL!:) LOL is for "Laughing out lud!" MMRanter would be a goode teacher!

Hi Tun,
Apa khabar?

Dear Tun Dr Mahathir

You have done positive things for this country (such as boldly taking "unorthodox" economic actions during the Asian Economic Crisis of the late 1990s and not succumbing to IMF pressure).

However, you have also made mistakes or done politically expedient things during your time in power that has resulted in the present worrisome state of things in Malaysia (such as the decay or corruption of so many of our political institutions).

I hope that for the rest of your life, you will try your best to
correct these mistakes (including working with all Malaysians of goodwill even if they are from non-BN political parties).

Dearest Dr. M,

Congrats on the creation of this blog, surely this will be the strongest vehicle to drive your messages to the people for a long time to come! Especially to the dynamic young Malaysians that will shape the nation's future. let's leave the Penghulus (Village Heads) in our dust..

On another note, It is sad to see that you are still fighting for the good of Malaysians in your retirement years. Understandable that to find a successor worthy of your achievements is not an easy task, but the situation should not have deteriorated to the current state.. (*whines..)

Finally, I do think that Malaysians can learn a lot from its neighbor, Singapore for micromanaging & ways of propelling the country into success. (lose the pride) For a start, we need smarter people that are actively dedicated people to run the country, FOR the people.. Definitely not jokers who are always guarding their interests, acting with hidden agendas and apple polishing!

Tun Dr. N,
When I was in the hospital, the doctors checked my heart. The first time they checked, there were 23-25 mistakes (premature ventricular contractions) in one minute, out of about 80 beats.

Many people have read about research by a Harvard professor who checked people with bad hearts, diabetes, etc. He checked people who did meditation and people who didn't. People who didn't do meditation were O.K. with medicine, but not O.K. without their medicine. But people who tried concentration meditation got better more quickly, and were O.K. without their medicine. The Transcendental Meditation people advertised this: "Meditation can fix many sicknesses." So now many doctors like meditation. So my doctors said, "Soen Sa Nim, you are a Zen Master, so you try!" So I said, "O.K., I will try." So I tried this fix-your-body meditation. In three days my heart was making only five mistakes -- usually it takes about one month to recover like this, so my doctors understood this meditation was helping my body, so they were very happy.

After one week, my heart was only making one or two mistakes, and my doctors said, "This is wonderful! Most people take two or three months to come down to only one or two mistakes each minute!" So I said, "Thank you very much, you have helped me, so I can get better quickly. But this is only fix-your-body meditation. This is not correct meditation.''

"Why isn't this correct meditation?" they asked.

"You can fix your body, your heart, your diabetes. In Korea, China, and India there are people who do yoga. They go to the mountains and do breath-in, breath-out meditation. They can live 500 years and not get sick. Keeping their bodies for a long time is possible; even flying in the sky is possible. Trying this style body meditation, anything is possible. A body is like a car. Use the car a lot, and in three years, it is broken. Only keep the car in the garage, then keeping it for a long time is possible. But finally after 500 years, then these yoga people die. Then what? Live a long time, then die; live a short time, then die -- it is the same! Dying is the same.''

The doctors understood. "What is correct meditation then?''

I told them, "I always try meditation. Meditation means always keeping one mind, not-moving mind." They thought meditation meant only concentration and keeping your body still. So I said, "Meditation means keeping one mind. You must understand -- what is life? What is death? If you keep one mind, there is no life, no death. Then if you die tomorrow, no problem; if you die in five minutes, no problem.''

"What do you mean, 'no problem?'" they asked.

"Maybe you do fix-your-heart meditation. Then, 'My heart is good, my body is good.' It is very easy to become attached to this meditation. But when you get old, and your heart is not so good, then you try this meditation. Maybe it is still not so good. Then, 'Why doesn't my meditation work?' Then your body, your meditation, become hindrances. If your meditation cannot help your body, then you don't believe in your meditation. Then what? So this style meditation is no good.

"Correct meditation means correctly understanding your situation moment by moment -- what are you doing now? Only do it! Then each action is complete each action is enough. Then no thinking, so each moment I can perceive everything just like this. Just like this is truth. Sick-time, only be sick. Driving-time, only drive. Only go straight -- then any situation is no problem.

The doctors liked this; they wanted to hear more about Zen. So six doctors came to my room and I talked to them for two hours. One doctor asked me, "I am very busy, at the hospital, then going home to my family -- how can I keep a clear mind?''

''Clear mind," I told them, "means moment to moment, what are you doing now? When you are with your patients, only 100% keep doctor's mind. When you leave the hospital and you are driving home, 100% keep driver's mind. When you meet your wife, 100% keep husband's mind. This means each moment only go straight; don't make 'I, my, me.' If you make 'I, my, me,' then your opinion, your condition, your situation appear; then you have a problem.

''If, when you are with your patients, you think, 'Where is my wife? Is she spending a lot of money?' Then this patient is talking to you and you only say, 'Uhm, yeah, mmm-hmm.' So the patient is thinking, 'What does the doctor think?' They don't believe you. If you are talking to your wife, and she is telling you something important, and you are thinking about the hospital, this is just your opinion, this is just thinking; it is not your just-now situation. So put it all down, only go straight.

"We say jeon il, completely become one. When you are doing an operation, you and this knife completely become one. When you are driving in your car, you and your car only become one. If you drive on a road with pebbles and you are not thinking, only driving, then you can feel these pebbles under your tires. Only become one means, you and your action completely become one, then you and the universe only-become one -- completely no-thinking mind. Inside and outside become one. The name for this is, 'only go straight,' or 'put it all down,' or 'don't make anything,' or 'keep clear mind.'''

"If you are only in the present, how can you plan for the future or choose a direction? I have to plan for my patients, and for myself, my family,'' one doctor said.

So I said, "What is the purpose of life? I asked many old people in the hospital this question, or 'What did you get out of life?' and many said, 'Nothing.' Maybe they have a good job, good family, good wife or husband, but these things cannot help them now. They want something they cannot have, and they understand this, so they say, 'Nothing.' This is understanding nothing. But understanding cannot help them, so they are suffering. Zen means attain this nothing mind. The Buddha said, 'If you keep clear mind moment by moment, then you will get happiness everywhere.'

"Zen is attaining this nothing mind, and using this nothing mind. How can you use it? Zen means making this nothing mind into big-love mind. Nothing mind means no 'I, my, me,' no hindrance. So this mind can change to Great Compassion mind, action-for-all-people mind. This is possible. Nothing mind does not appear, does not disappear. So moment by moment, it is possible to keep your correct situation. Then your mind is like a mirror -- when you are with your patients, only become one. Then helping them is possible. When you are with your family, only become one; then understanding what is best for them is clear. Just like this. The blue mountain does not move. The white clouds float back and forth.''

As much as your contribution to the country is noted, and appreciated, there comes a time when everyone must step back to ponder. That retreat will allow a man to decide if his life's work has been fruitful or if he still needs to do more. In your case sir, I'm afraid I don't know what your retreat and reflections had shown you. Seems like although your life work is complete, there are lots of tracks you need to cover and that is your motivation in wanting to get so involved in who is at the top of the power pyramid.

Ingat satu kisah cucunda Rasulullah s.a.w yang menegur orang tua mengambil wuduk.

Bagaimana caranya?

" pak cik, tolong tengokkan kami mengambil wuduk..."

May God Bless you and your family.

Afternoon Tun,
Thanks for joining us in the web.
I am curious about this: how are you going to balance or explain your current standing on the judicial reform by Pak Lah. I mean this is something that you may have played a major role in creating it. Now that your hand pick successor do it for you and you are not happy about it. Your suggestion of a better judicial reform could do better for us Malaysian but you let the opportunities pass by.
Why not sit down with PM to improve on his suggestion, rather then “poking” him from the side line ! (Sorry that I use such language)
This what the rakyat wanted all the while.
Wake up Tun, keep your pride aside( while you still have time to keep your name in the good book of Malaysia.a?179917

Sir,
I am a Singaporean who long had admired your leadership .I must add that there are only a rare few who warrants my admiration .You had put Malaysia on the world map. This is not my opinion alone but that of many Malaysians themselves whom I chanced to meet.Like an ordinary Malaysian folk, a Malaysian Chinese taxi driver ,who may not have benefited much out of the NEP. Nevertheless ,these simple folks held you high in their admiration .For the way you stood your grounds against an overwhelming odds against you. Both domestically and internationally .Leadership of your sort is a rare commodity these days.Something the Malaysians will miss for a long time. You had thus carved yourself in history.

So congratulation Sir, for your initiative to blog.So that a greater sphere of populace may benefit out of your thoughts. At least the spirit of true democracy is rekindled as the pros and cons would be debated in the very same page you write.

My only humble request is ,please be reminded that unlike penning a book or an article the writing style in cyber space differs. It can sometimes make or break an otherwise thought provoking article. It would be nice if you could seek some guidance in this respect.Thank you.

Name: Nur Mohd Ezan bin Taib
Daytime Phone: 012-3736383
Pseudonym: Young Parent
Title: Racist & Immoral Bloggers - Government Should Take Preventive Measures (Kempen Anti-Fitnah) To Maintain Peace & Harmony in Malaysia

Assalamualaikum YABhg Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad,

I refer to the role of Bloggers of late as an alternative source of information to main stream media providing the other side of the story concerning the state of Government Administration and the plight of the Rakyat. As a young parent, I applaud the government for not restricting the 500,000 bloggers from voicing their views and comments especially in the events leading to the recent general elections which some of them were constructive in nature for the good of all.

However, there were some overzealous bloggers in the name of democracy and freedom of expression indirectly incite racist and immoral tones in their comments for their own private agenda which are confusing young parents like myself who is a Malay married to a Chinese with 2 young kids concerning the Malay Rights which is enshrined in our Constitution but also protects the interests of all Malaysians too. Some of these comments were also highlighted by more established bloggers in their websites which do not take any responsiblity for such negative comments regarded as personal opinions in order to avoid from being prosecuted under the Sedition Act. They are more interested in individual bashing purportedly armed with facts and figures which cannot be proven of its genuity (embellishment). The onslaught have given a negative impression towards Malaysia by misconstruing that its present Federal Government is corrupted and racially and religiously prejudice towards the welfare of the Chinese and Indians. Eventually, "Fitnah" has become one of the considerations in deciding the future of Malaysia.

As a responsible parent, we teach our children, the future leaders of tomorrow to be responsible for their actions especially the feelings and opinions expressed direct or indirectly especially on the Internet or any other medium which may deemed insensitive towards our fellow Malaysian friends and neighbours whether they are rich or poor, educated or illeterate, bumiputera or non-bumiputera, muslim or non-muslim. Therefore I urge the Government to monitor such racist and immoral comments posted by irresponsible bloggers on the internet which will eventually create confusion and mistrust among the peace-loving multi racial society in Malaysia which we have enjoyed over the last 50 years since Merdeka.

If these comments are found to be endangering our society's future well-being, then preventive measures should be taken against them whoever they are without fear or favor. Further, the truth of the matter should be explained directly to the Rakyat by the Government rather than relying on third parties who are commercially inclined. It is time for the Government to serve the Rakyat in their best interests no matter how unpopular it may be looked upon so long as it is within the law. Our leaders cannot be held ransom by those who use "Fitnah" to discredit the government's sincerity to serve the rakyat objectively.

In the recent case of Chain SMS inciting religious and racial "Fitnah", the Police had done a good job to address the problems surrounding them. Why can't the police and the relevant authorities also take similar actions to avoid the same potential problems involving bloggers too. We can accept constructive critisims but we cannot tolerate bloggers who incite religious, racial and immoral issues to destabilise the country . The government must immediately take the necessary steps to prevent such bloggers from hiding under pseudonyms to avoid prosecution under the Sedition Act and continue spreading "Fitnah" no matter how noble their intentions were in order to uphold the spirit of democracy in Malaysia for all Malaysians. In short, in order to maintain peace and harmony in Malaysia, Government must undertake "Kempen Anti-Fitnah" before it's too late!

Wassalam

We were very worried when your got sick. My parents did not stop praying "Hajat" for your speedy recovery. Please take good care of your health, Tun. And we have a picture of you in our home. :), as you are our Idol.

Salam Tun,

We take this opportunity to say "We Love You" from Sg citizen, and to Tun Hasmah as well. You two are great duo. We really miss you Tun, so much. There is no one who can beat your bravery, sincerity and dignity. Your love for the Rakyat is an unconditional love. You have made the Malays well known in good ways. I am so so proud of your leadership. I was so unhappy when you retire. I think it is too soon :(
I dont know what is the future of Malaysia now, in the current situation, especially the Bumi Putras. To be honest, I am very worried about that. Being a S'porean, I share the joy for the success of Malaysia under your leadership. You are the best leader alive, as you follow the ways of our Prophet Mohammad (most of it). May Allah bleass you and family with good health. Continue the fight Tun, in any way you can. You make the world open up their eyes to the Malays and to Malaysia for that matter. Good Job.
We were very worried when you got sick. My parents did not stop praying "Hajat" for your speedy recovery. Please take good care of your health, Tun. And we have a picture of you and Tun Hasmah in our house, as you are our IDOL.

We also take this opportunity to welcome your son Dr. Mukhriz ( I dont know if I have spelled his name correctly), sorry about that.I hope he will take after you. You have our full support Dr Mukhriz. Thumps UP

Thank you with love from S'pore

It is good that finally you are reaching out to the rakyat vide blogging.

It would be better if you can answer their questions, rather than ignoring.

It would even be better if you can allow criticisms and negative comments be viewed rather than deleting them. That is what I call free speech.

If you are prepared to blog, you must also be prepared to absorb the views of your readers.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Congratulation YABhg Tun Dr.Mahathir..may Allah bless u with good health always. You are a revered statesman and held in high esteem by many leaders of the world. Unfortunately this is not so in the eyes of our present government. As you said many times over.."Melayu mudah lupa..". They forget that it is you who put Malaysia on the world map..it is you that have established Malaysia in many fields..its your voice and views that attracted the world..but alas..all these have been forgotten by many who were once your stout allies and supporters.. who were once begging to be in the political foray of your governance.."Melayu mudah lupa" and it dawn now that Melayu does forget all the your good deeds and sacrifices...by granting ex-gratia to the sacked judges..to me its just a 'show of defiance'to your governance..or an act of gaining popularity from the rakyat after the thrashing the get from PRU 12..just a political ploy..

YABhg Tun..you're a visionary leader..and with your knowledge..please right the wrongs..for the good of MALAYSIA MERDEKA!!!!

I used to be an "anti-establishment" until the faithful day that I met you 24 years ago. Your vision - well, only those whom can see thru or same frequency with you only understand you!!
Whatever you have done for the past 22 years & planned for next 20 years...really fascinated most people (mainly foreigners!) but our own local people (especially Malays not all but handfuls) really "shameful"!! So called - "MELAYU SENANG LUPA" mentality?
Its pained me the most when I read those accusations/remarks by those people!! These people "benefited the most" during your time & now turnaround & "barked" at your legacy!

Malaysian are still young to have their own thinking.

On the appointment of judges, it's still nothing but a family business no matter how the game rule has changed.

Regardless the judges qualification, how many judges are there for the high court? maybe we should start investigate 'how to make a qualify judges' and this involved in education and political system.

With the limited amount of selection (Is there any 'quota' too?), will there be any good options?

A judges meant to be independent, why he has to be only selected to a party that with 2/3 power? You're right, Maybe our constitution already old and rusty that need to be changed before anything else!

Yang ni kita kena jengok sikit. Lagi satu, macam-macam dah permintaan dari pelbagai pihak sekarang ni, hormat dah makin sikit, ikut perangai Bukit Gelugor, kurang ajar.. ehh diplomasi sikit.. kurang adab.

Bukan asyik ikut cakap dot.. dot.. dot.

When they retired, it was shame to let such “energy” wasted. Retired people have the experience to formulate workable policy. At such, they should be group collectively to form a think tank working committee to contribute to our beloved country.
At the moment, I view the current government as being weak and confused. Let form a line of defence and fire fight the issues raised by the RAKYAT

This is common for people that never knew the 'free water of input' that now flowing into their brain are coming from poisonous well of idea. The unconventionalized media that publishing thoughts are actually a long fragile bridge ( that crossing a turbulent river of dominative capitalist ), from the land of so-called lame to the utopia and that we are now whilst crossing, jumping on it, shake it as an doubtful experiment on the fragility.

- sir, now we are blogging. are we providently yield earlier than that we thought? it will be great to have your opinion in this anytime in future.

Looks like they are going to pin down Raja Petra Kamaruddin of Malaysia-Today with something like this:

This is what they will try to pin him down with:

One such case concerns Lim Guan Eng, a parliamentarian released in August 1999 after serving 12 months of an 18 month prison sentence, who was found guilty of sedition for prompting 'public dissatisfaction with the administration of justice'. He had publicly questioned the Attorney General's handling of a statutory rape case involving a government minister and a 15-year-old girl. In imposing the sentence, Appeal Court judge Gopal Sri Ram was quoted as stating, "it is time the court send a clear message that it cannot to tolerate any attack on the judiciary".

Tun, i hope that you can clear the air concerning the government policy abt university vacancy and scholarship by JPA to non bumis who excel in their exams (SPM or STPM) and not offered a place to local University or JPA scholarship. Do you think is it fair to deprive this smart students a place to study locally or offered scholarship just because they are non bumi? I am actually very upset over this matter and i feel the BN gevernment policy on this matter is totally unfair and we can see the number of good students offered places to study in Singapore and this students when they complete their studies will never come back to contribute to our country. Tun hope to hear your comment in this subject. Thank You and wishing you and Tun Siti Hasmah good health and happiness.

Malahan in bukanlah disebabkan oleh satu isu sahaja.

Anyway Tun thank you for everything and thank you for coming back. always love you.

Mahatir,

You have often said that you have a right to voice your views and question the government. I as a citizen would like to exercise the same right and ask you a few questions pertaining to your time as PM:-

1) Why was your son's shipping company bought by a governemnt conytrolled entity?
2) Why were MAS shares bought at RM8 when the market was below RM4?
3)Explain the BBMB Banking Scandal and the real reasons it became insolvent.
4)Why did you change the school syllabus so that all subjects be taught in the Malay language in the early 1980s? As a result of this policy, many younger Malaysians are not proficient in English.
5) The Forex losses by BNM of RM billions. Didnt you know that BNM was speculating in the forex market?
6)Did you instruct operation lalang?
7) Why do you berate the current leadership and government when you never allowed anyone to question or criticise you? Furthermore, you are the one who appointed most of the present government and these politicians have been influenced by your leadership.

These questions are just the tip of the iceberg. There are many more.Personally,I was appalled by your performance in the Lingam case. Your I "cannot recall" was shameful. You had a chance to do the honourable thing but choose to hide.

It is interesting to note that some comments on your blog use the "we" when lauding you. I , Sir, am not part of the "we".

I hope that you will not delete this comment but answer the above questions. Like you, as a member of the rakyat,I have a right to ask what decisions had been made by you in your capacity as the PM and for you to justify the acts of your government.

I hope you can "recall" some of the answers to the above mentioned questions. An opinion of this rakyat on you depends on it.

Thank you.

Foresight - stubbornly recalcitrant

Quoting from George Soros' The Crisis of Global Capitalism, Preface, Page xiv : (The Asian Financial Crisis 1997)...Malaysia opted out deliberately. It managed to inflict considerable damage on foreign investors and speculators and it managed to obtain some temporary relief, if not for the economy,...The relief is bound to be temporary because the borders are porous and money will leave the country illegally; the effect on the economy will be disastrous...

It was carried out by kampong people against expertise advice, World Bank, IMF, etc. Recently George Soros admitted his mistakes, in a face to face meeting with this stubborn recalcitrant.

"The Appointment of Judges" provides a window on the mentality and working of the government through the eyes of observer whose primary training was to observe, yet with half a century experience as an insider and top executioner.

A medical practitioner was not trained/encouraged in self diagnosis. One's weakness is known through exposure. It will not be easy for a government to diagnose its own weaknesses when it is surrounded by yesmen with different agenda. Early display of its own weaknesses through openness and discussion is a virtue if it has a self correcting mechanism. Or shall the weaknesses be exposed through the Votes?

Is bargaining with the opposition an evil or is consensus building a better option for the people?

Is a humble leader who listens to the people and the opposition a poor leader for the people? Or shall he blind himself to everything else except through the lenses of a particular Floor?

Paragraph 9 stirs up more questions than the title suggests - that one may have to look introvertly on oneself, not just oneself but humanity and others.

Dear Tun

I have been your number one fan since the beginning of your political career and it has never wavered even until now. My intuition tells me that you were and still are a good and sincere leader and "a woman's intuition is as good as a man's certainty". My prayers will always be with you and your family.

Sekian, terima kasih.

Salammualaikum Tun. I grew up in Kuala Nerang Kedah, a remote place those days. Even then you and Dr Siti Hasmah as practising doctors had the most unconventional ways of solving problems..doing it your way.

When I couldn't tolerate any form of milk as a baby..you suggested the simple condensed milk to my mum..and it worked! My sis had a very high fever and again Tun Siti Hasmah came to rescue and treated her with all her care.

Now, I am working at one of the world's best airports and again it is thanks to you and your vision.

Again you saved us during the 1997 Financial Crisis by doing it your way.

The only thing I can say is "Thank Allah, we have you around then and now". You are Allah's gift to Malaysia.

We pray for your health and long life. All the critics can only see one point of view, while you have vision for the whole nation if not the world!!

To YAB Tun Dr. Mahatir

There has NEVER been a true borderline between the TRUTH and a LIE, when it comes to Politics.

Somehow comparing the current PM and you (previous PM), Sir, you did a fine job balancing out BOTH. Furthermore, you don't sleep when people is talking.

For all the things you have done for this Nation, I hereby salute you and i will never forget your contributions made to Malaysia.

I know that there are many news (blogs) going around that mentions your name, both good and bad alike. But dearest Tun, don;t let it bother you. Bloggers are currently enjoying there newfound freedom to 'speak' and therefore they open their mouths as wide as they can...for whilst they can.

Fact is, you Sir is The Legend and Malaysia has come a long way under your guidance and leadership. Regardless of anything, all Malaysians recognize your contribution...I am one of them.

Thank you Tun for everything...

mrdgoVimal, you are wrong. Tun have done the best for all Malaysian including you. The Malay have special right and this right shall never be taken away. And they only ask for 30% of the country's wealth. Now that the demand made by the opposition are supressing the Malay's right and previllages including ite religion, then the Malay shall demand more to be fair. Just like what PKR and Pas are demanding. At least 60% of the country wealth should go to the Malays to reflect the propotion of races in the country. The Malay are poor and not as smart as other races and need help. They put their faith in the govenment's hand and not take down to the streets like the opposition. If the goverment are weak and cannot protect the interest of the Malays anymore, there will be a lot more streets demo worse than in any other poor country.
So lets focus to see if todays goverment can help the Malay or not. The problem is now and not in the past. The past have always been very good and Tun have taken the task remarkably.

Tun,

You are a great man, and great men do great things to earn the title. However, history has also shown great men are mere mortals and make mistakes, errors, mis-judgements, etc. It takes an even greater man to admit them. The public hears your cries, but you must also do vice versa then the people will not only hear you but listen.

Deeds you did may have been for the good of the nation or for personal gains, but that is history now. We keep the good and rectify the bad. Such is the link between the pass and the present and is why humanity tends to refer to books and not fortune tellers.

Dear Yang Amat Berbahagia Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad,

It is an honoured that I have a chance to actually comment and post in your blog. I had always wanting to meet you in my life and also not forgetting your wife - Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah whom I very much respect in my life,

Without you as a leader, I don't think Malaysia will achieve such a huge success. You are truly a "Bapa Permodenan". Infact, I am very proud to call myself a Malaysian.

Of course we still have alot to improve and the country still has got a long way to go if we were to achieve Vision 2020. WIth the current condition in our country, we have alot of obstacles coming along and I hope we will all take the challenge with an open mind to go thru with our best.

We still need your assistance in giving us advise, people can say whatever they want to you and people can say about old story. But I care less about it anymore because I am just looking forward for the future. I appreciate that at the age of 80s. Infact you should be enjoying your life but your struggle to come forward and make sure things are put right should infact be appreciated by everybody.
Dear Tun, the reason for me being here is not only to comment on politics. I am not a person who knows much about politics therefore I will not give comments on politics. I am just an ordinary Malaysian who loves the country very much just like you. My main concern is always just on the country's development including on economics, social and many more. I hope that Tun will cover even more things for our country in your blog. We seriously need your guidance.

Perhaps there will be people coming to say that Tun is trying to interfere but I hope everyone will be more open-minded to accept that this is an opinion and everyone has his/her rights to give opinions regardless of who he is. Tun's opinion will be very vital for us and I believe it will lead and guide us Malaysian to a better life and better Malaysians will always make a better Malaysia.

Yours sincerely,
Dave

Good day. As I read this, I can't help but think who has actually been responsible for the sad state of our judiciary system today? Tun, you can said that everything was done according to the 'system', but even a lay woman like me could make our own deduction of what had happened. It was because of this, I felt the call of responsibility as a Malaysian to fly back for 3 days over the weekend of 8 Mar (which I'm so proud that I did) to make my vote count on that important day. I salute those judges who has gone through the rough times and to those who are still suffering in the system. The lawyers who marched to the Palace of Justice, they have my highest respect (and I wish I was there to support them). I hope they persevere even at times of adversity. I'm from the generation that has sadly been deprived of a place in our local universities and had to make my parents struggled to put me through university in the West (which I hope we can stop disspointing our bright, young Malaysians on, it's the most basic a govt of the day can do). I'm glad that I've not dissappointed my parents. The 'system' has no doubt, make most of us stronger and many of us are now professionals working in MNCs. However, our hearts still belong to our beloved countries. We grow up making friends without borders, not caring about their skin colour, race or religion and for many of us, it is the unfair elements of the NEP that distance us as we approach our youth and wdulthood, where reality dawns upon us that it does matter what your skin colour, your race or religion in Malaysia. It is my sincere wish as well as many others who would love to come back to contribute so that one day our nation make our marks to the world, where every Malaysian is equal and treated fairly. I may not agree with the things you have done in the past, but I do hope that God has given you more wisdom through the years and hope that you will be constructive in the coming days and help us the younger generation of Malaysians to realise our dreams for a united and fair country.

TUTUR PENGHARGAAN BANGSA

May 13 1969 ia bermula
meredah banjaran pemisah
mengalir debu dan lahar
diantara darah dan nanah
meresap dicecairan bumi bangsa
kekayaan pusaka bangsa dimiliki semua

Nafsu haiwan menguasai jiwa raga
denyut nadi hasat dengki
Merah membahang menyala
Slogan melayu berdilema
merangsang perjuangan bangsa

Bangun tegak berdiri
meroboh mencanai
walau mulanya keringat dan airmata
perit pedih rintihan

Dalam penentu belum penghujung
mengorak langkah mengatur cara
meniti permatang penentu juang
kini bangsamu mula mengangkat muka
tiada ejekan kata hina

Tapi sampai detik bila berthahan lama
dasar ekonomi baru pandang ketimur
Wawasan 2020 bukan titik penyudah
bagi generasi mendatang ia bermula

Melayu tidak hilang didunia bukan dendangan tetapi landasan perjuangan

Demikian suratan Ilmu Allah
bangsa melayu melangkah megah
menjulang panji panji bumi bertuah
anak watan pusaka bangsa

Mahathir,
Namamu mekar segar
seperti mawar dititis embun pagi
manis dikata
hilangmu ku cari
pergimu ku nanti
pulangmu ku tunggu

Kau layak menerima anugerah
Rimbun pelindung untuk semua
AYAHANDA RAKYAT, tutur penghargaan bangsa
BONDA RAKYAT, pada isteri tercinta

Demikian keluhan rindu

good day sir;

as much as I admired you for your achievements for malaysia....
I had to say that I totally disagree with you about setting up the commission.
I think that the judiciary must be made independent and non-executive to the parliament or cabinet.
It is only through this way we can be assured of impartial justice for all.
though the current gov may not have the 2/3 majority, the opposition will definitely support it if it is good. after all the v k lingam video is about this issue. and the opposition was the one who raise it.
I believe that in this democratic country it would be wrong to have a strong gov, thus need more opposition to counter check balance.
thus doing so will not imply the current government weak. other countries went on with the rule of more than 50 percent vote. I don't think the current gov is weak until that level.
I do hope you can give us ur view and maybe defend urself against allegation made against you. let the reader decide for themselves as the newspaper often reported the lopsided info just like before the last election. with all the head line that the gov might wipe out all the opposition.
I really like to listen to your witty sarcasm that throws the opponent to the end of the tunnel.

On your point that whether the govt should work with the opposition too amend the constitution, Tun, that's pretty normal in most countries. Opposition MP's are also elected representatives of the people. Why should there be a state of permanent confrontation if there are areas they both agree on. This is not a binary either or option, Tun. The MP's should place our (the rakyat's) interest before their own, but you have placed BN's interest before the rakyat in this case. The rakyat and BN are not the same.

You are a living legend to Malaysian i am proud being a Malay. But lately i think the Malays are the laughing stock of the nation!!

We are being cristised for just for the Keris incident, which is just a part of the "Malay culture"!!

Why after 50 years of independence other races failed to understand their "Host" culture.

The Malays are being a humble "host" but where is the respect and tolerance towards the Malays? Are we asking too much?

Look around us! How much has other races learned about Malay Language? (Forget about culture) some cannot even speak Malay the official language after 50 years!

Lets face reality here, It’s the Malay themselves now who are destroying the very foundation that you have build during your tenure.

I think the Malays are DOOMED!! Unless someone do something, and something must be done fast!!!.

Lets we Malaysian build a great MALAYSIA again with understand, tolerance, and respect towards each other. This is all we have now.

Biarlah mereka gelar Tun sbg pengacau ttp saya percaya masih ramai rakyat malaysia memerlukan TUN sebg.BAPA RAKYAT MALAYSIA.Semuga Tun sentiasa sehat untk terus bersama kami rakyat Malaysia samada dlm situasi senang atau susah. You are the greatest malaysian HERO.JASAMU AKAN TETAP DIKENANG SELAMA-LAMANYA.

Dr. Mahathir,

You deleted a comment where which mentioned that you were able to bring Malaysia to such great heights mainly because Malaysia's blessed natural resources, especially oil. The comment said that someone who managed the nation's resources better would have brought greater success to Malaysia. Rather, under your rule, much of the nation's public funds went to grandiose projects which did not bring returns, but Malaysia was cushioned by the oil money.

The comment said you were mainly responsible for destroying the 3 pillars of democracy, especially the Judiciary by the sacking of Tun Salleh Abas. It said you cannot push the blame onto the tribunal as you were the prime mover behind the sacking. You destroyed many of our nation's cherished institutions including a free press. Remember how you took away the publishing rights of many newspapers but they were allowed to publish again, but as subsevient press.

You deleted comments which were not pleasant to your ears.

Dr. Mahathir. This is what your daughter penned:

Marina Mahathir: "Politicians who turn bloggers will not be able to attract readers if they disallow negative comments on their postings, said Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir."

"She said they would lose their credibility if they took off the negative comments. As long as you allow other views to come in, that will enhance the whole value of your blog,” she (Marina Mahathir) said.

Hi Tun,

I have a different opinion of the world, seeing Malaysia not in the context of Malaysia and Malaysians, but to the global scenario. One of the earliest comment in this blog is SAY NO TO NWO. Why this statement appeares early on in something for me to wonder. Well, after more than 30 years of wondering, I hope I can see the next 30 years and not 30 days. I both admire you and at the same time not admire you. God and bad, right and wrong, after all you are just a human being.

Regards

Angela

salam ayahanda Tun,

Izinkan Anakanda Samurai buat sedikit penjelasan kepada 'Penulis cyber'

Penulisan tuan menampakkan seorang yg banyak membaca dan pandai menyusun, mengulas dan mengupas keperibadian TDM.
Rasanya ramai orang mengkagumi pendapat tuan, tahniah!.

Maaf tuan, nak beritahu sikit.Gi cari buku berkenaan 'hierachy' japanese imperial army dan faham kedudukan Shogun dalam nya.
Kalau kedudukan kita masih ditahap ninja atau samurai belajarlah 'tunduk' jepun kat shogun.
Wassalam
