The Appointment of Judges

The Prime Minister has announced that judges would be chosen by a Commission specially set up for this purpose.

2. No details have been made public as to the way the Commission would work.

3. Would the Commission actually appoint the judges or would it only recommend the names for the PM to approve or would the Commission recommend directly to the Agong for him to exercise his prerogative? Or would the Agong require the approval of the Rulers Conference? Or would the Conference of Rulers be merely consulted as is done now? Or would they be able to reject the candidate, and ask for new candidates or name new candidates of their choice?

4. It would be interesting to know the full details of the procedures, above all with regard to the role of the PM.

5. The appointment of judges is provided for in the Constitution. If changes are to be made in any way, they must be considered as in breach of the Constitution.

6. To make the changes legal, the Constitution has to be changed.

7. As everyone knows changes in the Constitution can only be made if two-thirds of the members of Parliament in session agreed with the proposed changes.

8. The Government does not have the necessary two-thirds majority. By itself it will not be able to change the manner with which the judges are chosen. It can only do so if the opposition supports it by at least nine votes.

9. Is the Government proposing to work with the opposition on this issue, and so display its weakness? Will there be a quid pro quo, a bargain with the opposition? It would be interesting to see how the PM proposes to deal with this.

Dear Tun Mahathir ‘our inspiration’ Mohamad

Too excited to write, as suddenly I can simply write what ever my heart wishes to tell you…

Lets start with…all the best, my regard to Tun Hasmah (we love you as much as we love Tun M).

Last Sunday (270508) while watching Spanish GP, I smsed my eldest brother, “I miss Schumacher, if not as much perhaps almost similar to I miss Tun M,”. Well as expected, his reply seems very much disapprove to my SMS “Takkan la hang compare Tun dengan Schumacher kot”. Oppsss…tak terniat pulak….Then my replied… Well, I miss both of them, perhaps in many things and different way, both of them had inspired though differently….

We love you so much, the true Malaysian Idol……… I am where I am today…because of the direction, spirit, and leadership that grow along our age….which of course… inspired by TUN DR. MAHATHIR MOHAMAD. …WE SALUTE YOU…SIR….

asalamualaikum Tun Dr.M,

Amin...

Assalamualaikum Tun Dr.Mahathir Mohd.

Congratulations on finally coming out with your own blog.

It would have really been much more better if you had actually started this blog 22 years back!

We, the Malaysian people would have had access to you and give you our feedback about all that affects us and maybe, just maybe, our nation's history would have been different?

All the corruption, nepotism, cronyism, etc. might not have come to be at the scale it has set and embedded itself into our nation's system.

Anyway, all that is the past and no one can do anything to change the way things took place.

At the twilight of your life, you have finally opened up yourself to the reach of Malaysians.

Better late than never, eh?

I sincerely ask that you answer each and every comment that is worthy of a reply by your own self and not delegate some one else to reply to us?

It is with that wish that I came in with this welcoming comment.

All the best to you sir and let's blog for the good of the nation.

Insya Allah.

Welcome to Blogosphere dear Tun!

Hope Malaysia gets to read what you have to say without any editing or censorship!

Ameen.

Wassalamualaikum wr wb.

with respect tun,
my view is that,
too make good in anything is not by changing rules,
but we have to change the people,
for me although they say that the counsil is a free abody to review and proposed the best candidates
but how do we know that the counsill is really a free body
and the counsill is only proposed to pm and not to the king
than abck to square one
pm will decide
for me the error come from the people inside it
not the system
and these day the system is full of kaki bodek
and that make the system become worst
frankly speaking tun
we malaysian need u...
may allah bless u and give godd health
we the new malay generations support u all the time
all the way
u are the one who used to make us happy
and we are ready to sacrifice the happiness back just to support u tun

Good evening Tun,

You have once again create history by being the first former PM to blog. Syabas! Malaysians missed your leadership. The present government is too engrossed building their personal and family wealth through ill-gotten means. They have never really have the rakyat's interest at heart. They have forgotten that it is the rakyat who put them in their position and they are obliged to serve sincerely. Instead they are robbing the poor taxpayers in broad daylight! If they don't wake up and change, then it will be the end of history for BN in Malaysia come 5 years. As a Malaysian who take great pride in my homeland, I must say I am trully disappointed with what's going on. I trully missed your firm and forward leadership even though you may not be right all the time.

Thank you for staying in touch directly with us ordinary Malaysian through your blog.

May you and family be blessed with good health, longivety and happiness always!

Perhaps we should review provision on appointment of PM by setting IQ test as criteria.Whether it is on appointment of judges, or islam hadhari matters, or converts to inform family, or allah in bible issue, the federal government does not have a clue on the legal platform to operate on, and zaid ibrahim is there not on merit but for the wrong reasons. Islam is state matter, so pak lah and fed govt. has no locus standi on these matters. All matters on islam is concern of rulers. Example allah in bible is matter for civil court to request and refer to outcome of fatwa.Pak lah continues to be apologetic to non muslims because he deemed he is custodian of the religion. He like karpal forgot of Urusan Seri Paduka as basis of elected govt. This is question of Pak Lah's IQ and nation threat of Anwar and his little napoleons and the orang kita plague coming our way.

the owl said...

Tun, Many of your deeds and words were and are correct, but many wrong.

I supported your bold stand against the hypocrisy of the Western nations and your measures taken during the 1997 financial crisis. They have been splendid and made all Malaysians proud.
However, either you or party members, with or without your support or condoning, had done so much damage to Malaysia and even the Bumiputras. You encouraged, practised or tolerated corrupt, unethical, opaque, and cronyism practices that had helped enrich many cronies, squandered huge amount of national wealth , weakened those who were fed with easy gifts that they became so dependent that you once described them as living on clutches. Your privatisation projects, mostly negotiated contracts, the details of them were unknown to others and protected under OSA, became piratization ones, robbing the Malaysians and the nation for the benefits of a few well connected ones. Your "Malay Dilemma" had become "Malaysian Dilemma" after your 22 year hard work.
You still have many years around and can still do a lot to help Malaysia, even with your current power and influence, if you care for the nation or not your own or your family interest. Please help build Malaysia into a nation with integrity, openness, minimum corruption and abuse of power, fairness, for all Malaysians to remember you with, when the time comes for you to bid farewell to us all.

Hi Dr M,

Welcome to blogsphere.
It was pretty nervous situation when you retired... I grew up under your governance, and honestly it was more peaceful during that time.
Anyway, it has becoming more chaotic in our government nowadays. Is Pak Lah too 'soft' in his administration? Top leaders are either fighting among themselves or arguing some small lil' matters rather than focusing on ruling the country. Sigh, what does the future hold for us, Malaysians? Is there anything the government could do to bring back the confidence to the 'rakyat'?

Welcome to blogger's nest. I used to adore you during the early days when you were running around after being sacked by UMNO. With the help of students from the varsities & the gang we stood by you in a number of forums and dicussion in the early 70s.

I was excited when you became PM and was pleased with your vision for a better Malaysia then.

But the day when you molested the judiciary and later on went to sack your DPM,then on I begin to have second thought about you. In fact I lost faith in you and your "perjuangan".

As a human being I have a high respect for you but as a politician you are no better than Idi Amin or Robert Mugabe. I am so sorry Tun,but thats how I feel.

Anyway, its nice to see you opening a line of communication with us(bloggers) and hopefully lets interact"macam orang yang berilmu".

Take care of your health,Tun..and hopefully you will share our ideas as well "untuk terus sumbang kepada negara kita"

First of all, I would like to thank you for your contribution towards the development of Malaysia when you were the Prime Minister. However, I also cannot forget the facts that after your long ruling on the country, you had brought some lont term bad effect on the country.

First, the corruption. You accuse of current Prime Minister of that (though I am not really against that), but what have you done so far? For 20 years you are the leader and you never fight against corruption (except when you become the Prime Minister initially but was more like a propagada then a real action).

Secondly, the issues of judge. I am not sure how you managed to do it, but what happened during the election of UMNO in 1987 and the JUDGES (more than 1, in fact is 5) are being "fired". This had caused the judiciary system to deteriorate since then.

You are that great???? The rest of your supporters should also "see" these facts. I am not trying to deny your contribution to the country but you are not as great as you perceive yourself.

Good to see you here. Welcome to the world of blogging where we can express our thoughts freely. You have always been one of the best leader in the world(the chinese community always liked u very much during your time as PM).I really admire you! It's very great to have a leader like you in Malaysia during many years back. Thanks for everything u did to make the world know of our country-Malaysia. I remembered my parents saying to me that when they went for their honeymoon in Europe, people would ask where do they come from. When they said Malaysia, nobody knows where is it and my parents have to point out that it's actually situated up to the north of Singapore. Nowadays, the world knows that Malaysians do not live on trees. Thanks for everything u did to us in Malaysia. Personally, I think that u are the best leader among all the previous Prime Ministers and of course better than the today's PM. I would also like to let u know that I chose you as my "TOKOH NEGARA" during my Form 3 Sejarah course work...haha...
Anyway, all the best and hope you will be always healthy!

Dear Mahathir,

You are a very strong leader and yet your contributions to Malaysia are well recognized by people around the World.

Its good to see you have a blog which allows your voice to reach us but I think more importantly our voice/words will reach you too. This is very interesting. We shall see how we will interact each other in this levelled world.

My first thought is you are very brave, you are taking a great risk to expose yourself for criticism in blogging. As who you are, your words can always easily reach us.

Its glad to see things in malaysia are moving forward. We as malaysian should work to gather to achieve more as a whole, to make our country stronger and better, instead fighting/using each other for ones interest.

My little piece of advice: Do not waste your time in managing your comments, why? this is blog, not a press. It will be normal to have pro and anti. Just showing we care. =)
Keep Blogging!
Take care.

Dear Tun, whatever are the words of others, I believe in your sincerity. Malaysia needs to hear your words of wisdom. I do not and will not believe that your view is presented with malice. Be that as it may, I agree with the view that it is about time that the government and the opposition work towards one goal, ie for the betterment of the country, and not for the sole purpose of merely one-upping each other. Or is that too naive a view? :P Would love to read your take on this point. Keep blogging dear sir. Please.

Take care.

Best regards

You had you time. You did the best and you did the worst for the nation. I respect you and always will. Now your PRIORITY should be to formulate PERKIM's dakwah vision and mission and use your blog to convey the message of PERKIM to the world and garner their suppport. If you choose perkim's as one of your platforms to publicise your political ideas, than you would eclipse the function of PERKIM everytime you attend PERKIM's functions. Your next course of action should be quite obvious, don you think so Tun?

Dear Tun D.Mahathir:

First of all,
I would like to make a simple introduction about myself.I am Hui Ling, a 17years old Malaysian who live in Brunei Darussalam.Eventhough, I am not studying and living in Malaysia but I do keep updating myself on the general issues and knowledges on what happened on this globe as well as Malaysia.

Sir, honestly im really impressed to you. I make you as my role model and my Idol,I am not trying to attract any of your attention here nor trying to be a sweet/nice talker... But I just feel want to give you my highest respect on you.
Since I think I want to make some successments and miracles like what you did:)

I know, you might feel curious why I am writing this.
I can only tell you that,my aim for writing this is just want to share my views and my thinks here toward the politic disasters and the recent happens on Malaysia and globe.

Recently,I do feel very pissed off whenever I read the news regarding the unfair laws and blames in the politic world in malaysia(well i do realized that some funny and childish acts by some of the media and aunthories in the political stream now).

Especially the actions of Anwar,
Honestly I dont like that man,
I even feel hate to him.
He got no rights to sit on the PM's position (Now,He keeps saying that he can and will be the PM of malaysia in this coming 3years time).
I dont know what his main aims of wanting so much of being the PM of malaysia.
If he is good enough,
IF he got alot of GOOD ideas/plans toward the development of Malaysia,
why! He betrayed his own country in the 1998?
I dont understand why some people still support and like him.
In fact, he is the one making Malaysia down! If he didnt sell Malaysia's share to others in 1998.
Malaysia's currency value wont drop drastically in 1998 and if he didnt do that maybe Malaysia today is a very developed country with some latest and advanced tech.

Because of his selfish's action,
Malaysia's economic been affected, the currency become double and less value than B$ and S$ .

again, his history of being cased of homosexual assault.

I dont think such people having the rights, the quality and the conditions to be Malaysia's PM and our leader. Such people will think only for their own rights but not peace and care about those weakers.

Malaysia wont have any good turning points once Malaysia fall on Anwar's hand. MOre and more embezzlement problems bond with grafts will happen.
No peace No develope No change but just fall and become worst if we dont stop this man.

It is very obvious, since this man came out from the jail;alot of problems in the political world and country's security (like the event of you being sprayed pepper in the airport on last several years (if im not mistaken)) started to rise. Before this,
the problems didnt that severe.

I hope someone or the authories (in fact, all of us) need to be very careful and not blind toward any of his single actions. He is a wolk whom wear a sheep's coat.

The headlines of the newspaper now are always associate with the parliament/votes/states rights arguements.
I dont really understand why;
media keeps boosting up the problems on the political world.
Especially the recent one on malaysia's politic tsunami.

who should we blame?
why does it happened?
who cause this?
why can this happened?
who/what are the factors leading these?

I got some of my own views which I would like to share with you. I hope you wont mind and may forgive me if my views got any mis-interpreting or over.
Anyway these are just my own views,
I dare to write these, I dont mind and scare/bother if any of the media/people want to against me or what ever.
I just want to speak out my views and truth.
I want be a straight-talker like you :),
point/outlines the mistakes cause no harm actually. It is depend on how you think and your own views (the ways you thinks).
okay...
I think the main problem is the racialism.
eventhough most people say no racialism problem anymore in Malaysia.

But the truth= racialism still here.
why chinese cant be the state leader?
why Indian cant be the state leader?
why why why?
Are these because of the customs and the "tradisi sejak abad-kemurun"? or just a reason to secure the malay?

*Some malays are rich in malaysia...they got some special rights and powers.
but the sad things are...
they rarely like to help those weakers and the people in the outskirts of city.
some malaysia's kampong still without properly medical aids, education and sewage system.

I am curious...
Since all of the people in the barisan parliament and the UMNO like to say :
"MALAYSIA is a multi-races country. People here live together in joys and harmony"

But why the leader of state/PM cant be other races but only Malays?

The best example is the one happened on Penang recently.
The chinese man take over the rights and hold the state by the right laws, steps and votes.
Why there are some arguements of that matters among malay community?

Jealousy among races are actively practiced.
(actually the problems arent severe but, because of the terrorisms actions by malays during the voting election...these prob/topics started to bloom again.)

Not only races but also the among the group or society.
Remember on what happened to one of the malaysian chinese society's leader? His video ....(yea, i think you get what i mean. I dont feel like to talk more about this since this aint nice/proper thing to talk here), actually the video is the blackmail action from the people whom jealous of his position in his society.
*some of the chinese malaysian society members even do think that, the video was paid by their own members for pulling their former society's president down
People dare to do anything without thinking twices and the effects behind. This act is really childish and immature.
Like a game/backstab of kids.

Hrm..
(I hope you wont be angry/get mad, i try to speak more crytallize (honest))
From what i know, and I feel..
most of the people in the government sectors/political world holding their positions just for their own benefits ;not for aiming to develop our country, help the weakers and serve/contribute to the public.

before they been elected/votes to be someOne in the gov/political world (for example states leader)).
They were very good (*acted like a very good one)to those weakers. Going to the interior villages, ran some speeches talk to the public regarding their "fake actions/act" plan for future malaysia.
They spoke alot of sweet things there, but after the elections...
things dont go like what they promised and said before.
They promised to provide health aids, educations, building roads and others to the rural poor people. But once they got what they want, getting position in the political world.
they do nothing on their promises and forget/clear off the shadow of those weakers.
they started to think about how to gain/get rich by their special positions and rights in the community. they gain and make easy money , they live in heaven but...those poor people leave behind the scene and got no choice but only to stay in their forever poor undeveloped villages.

I wonder how cruel those bad people can react and do these. Dont they have blood and flesh like others?
why people seems like being a vampire keep sucking each other's blood, just for selfish reason?
where is the peace?
where is the harmony?

I think it will be better if hose parties people spend their times and concernstration more on malaysia's future developent rather than wasting their times on argue-ing, blackmailings, backstab, terrorisms actions and others.

I really hope that anwar can keep quiet! He is trying to upset the people here. Keep blooming and boosting alot of problems instead of giving peace.

He is funny anyway,
like got brain without logic thinking.I know my words are rude here...
sorry,
what i mean here is...
yea,
I do remember he did say that you having some close friendship with others country leaders.

He is funny,
i think he is jealous as well because you got and own alot of good leaders friends around the globe.
Doesnt he think logically without having friends, whats a life is?
without sharing ideas with people whom work in the same fields, where can we get improvement?
and lastly without having good relationship with others, our country will got no friends but enemies!
(i have read a book which titled: D.Mahathir's selected letters to world letters)
from the books,
I feel that you are a good leader, a someone whom inspire me alot.Give me alot of motivations.
You make me feel that nothing is impossible.
I keep telling myself(encourage myself):" If tun.dr mahathir can bring and make such miracles, why cant i?"

This is my final year in my high school life, I aim for become "Tun.D mahathir the second!"
(sir, i know you might found this is funny but im serious)
Actually Im like what you planned to do in your life, to study laws and forensic medicines course.
anyway...
why I aim for that?
reasons:

1. I want to be a person like you who are dare and fair to speak out anything confidences and with logics to the public.
These aint the intend to showing off,
but a reminder and advise for people to change.
I dont know why, there are alot of people wont never accept comment and fedback from others.
Such people got problem on change and improve.

2. I want make some constributions to our homeland, Malaysia

3. I want to help the weakers, I want all people and races in malaysia treat with fairs and live in the world's most happy, harmony and developed country; Malaysia
(I belief cooperation of all Malaysia can bring malaysia to success and the best)

I promise you that I will not be selfish like what others if one day i reached my goal and have the chances to serve for malaysia.

I will keep my humble still and the mind of helping weakers.
I want to use my knowledges on aids not harm/crimes:)

I really hope there are miracles on malaysia today.
If these political crisis keep carry on,
Im really sure...
the economics and peace on here will soon been affected.
Anwar will take this as his opputurnity to make some slick tricks.

Lastly,
Sir, I hope you can forgive if I do make any some mistake or unpolite statements on my writing above. My grammar error as well...

please take good cares of your health:)
You make me remind of my grandpa, whom aged like you :)
Sir once again,
please accept my highest respect on you. :)

Kebanyakan rakyat Malaysia hanya ikut-ikutan menyayangi Tun atau ikut-ikutan membenci Tun. Kesimpulannya, sendiri simpul! Dear Dr. Mahathir,

It is nice to see you blogging, not too late to embrace it but it is a great opportunity to hear from you directly as well as allowing us common citizen a chance to speak out mind off, seeing how the media has been diluting factual information for some very long time now.

Whether it is practical or not, it is just me and my own opinion and I hope that collectively, it can help you or the current government get a better picture of the Malaysian nation for a better decision making.

As far as I am concern, the government has been more competitive than before with more oppositions in the parliament and that is what our country need, badly. Similarly, if it means working with the opposition for a better future, then so be it. It has been and still is the objective of any elected statesman.

As for my message to you, our former Prime Minister of Malaysia, I can only hope that the by-product during your tenure was a sacrifice that was required, foreseen by you when you took the helm at that time, to modernize Malaysia. Nevertheless, change is the only constant and should always be embraced forever as well as to be made a habit, so we, the nations of Malaysia get used to living within the world of a developed countries.

All the best to our nation's struggle.

My Dearest Tun M,
I really missed you in the government. I would like to say when you were in power, we do not have so many problems.Your successor in power has caused and created so many problems, in fact TOO many. I and the rest of the Malaysian are so dissapointed with the way the country is been run by your successor. Name will not be mentioned as its not worth mentioning.
I always love to listen to the way you speak. It wake up every one who is listening to your speech BUT I have problem including many when listening to your successor speaks. He sure got long way to go,ops.. he won't be long.
What you have done during your time of been the PM of Malaysia, NO future PMs' will be able to do what you have done. I have always been proud to be a Malaysian when you were the PM of Malaysia but now, I would like to say, I don't respect your successor and shy to be a Malaysian now.

I hope to be a regular in your blog from today.
Again, thank you for what you have done for us all Malaysian.

Dear Mr. Ex PM,

You are very insistent in placing all the ills facing our country now on AAB. Can 4 years of rule, even if it's misrule, as alleged, create so much havoc and damage. Or are these havoc and damage the result of 4 plus 22 years of misrule? It is the cumulative effect that is more devastating, more crippling, not the ripple caused by the 4 years of bad management.

AAB should have moved more rapidly and aggressively in dismantling what was built in the 22 years prior. But, instead, he only cancelled a few of your costly and later projects. This irked you to no end, wonder why?

You always maintain that it's your right to criticise the actions of the present government, if you feel what it is doing is wrong. No one should and can deny you this right, but there is such a thing as constructive criticisms and negative criticisms. It would benefit the nation more if you could criticise constructively. Every elected government desrves to be respected. If it is found to be wanting, then let the due electoral process do its job, let it remove it.

Calvin said...

No doubt, you are a very effective leader but NOT yet a GREAT leader..if I am the PM, and for the sake of nation progress, I remove, DPM, Judges or etc..that not cooperative with me...come on...by this way..I can be an effecive leader too..who can't do that..

If you cannot accept critise from the bloggers then why keep critise the current government.

If Pak Lah failed, then you failed too as he is the one you chosed...

Salam Alaikum Dr.Mahatir. Upon recommendations from so many people, I have finally read a few of your books on the pitfalls of globalisation. It behoved me when I realised that the Thirld World (which includes me) is not able to grasp the bigger picture of this economic scheme, where resources are unevenly distributed...or as you have mentioned in one of your speeches, the lack of "pragmatism". Decades of cultural hegemony from foreign powers, and a constant barrage of manipulation of our education systems, has now created a tunnel-visioned generation that is a small part of this larger picture.....a picture that someopne else has painted.....where we have been bamboozled and left confused with economic jargons and economic terms coined by others. Indeed, we have not understood the practical aspect.

You should write booklets and brochures, with diagrams and language that we the Third World can understand, that explains what globalisation is, how the land owners operate, how farmers are exploited, international currency and monetary exchanges (what ARE they? we know how they operate, but what ARE they?)...so that everyone from farmers to students to doctors can grasp the brief message in such pamphlets. Post them here online, so that people like me can dowlload and print them at hiome and istribute them. Make them in multiple languages for all nationalities.

From the posts, it's pretty obvious that we are still living in a feudalistic era. It's a sign that the Malays are still insecure despite having attained independence for more than 50 years. May be it's in our roots and may be even it's due to our leaders. Whichever and whatever the case may be, we simply have ourselves to blame.
As for the judiciary, she has lost a certain amount of her integrity. How much is anyone's guess. So any effort to restore her integrity should be appreciated. If the constitution has to be amended, then so be it.
In your time it was taboo to solicit any form of cooperation from the opposition. Everything was defined along party lines. Well, times have changed or so we would like to think.
Malaysians and especially the Malays are in untested waters. They seem to be enjoying their new toy. Who can blame them, after all they had a strict father who saw no need nor purpose for toys. That was how the family was managed. Pity that they are now grownups but still pining for their father. Childish adults looking for their lord...

Dear Tun Dr M,
Regarding your point #9, I don't think it's a sign of weakness to work with the Opposition. In a democracy the MPs are supposed to serve the people, therefore if this Commission is in the interest of the rakyat, all political parties MUST work together. To prohibit members from working across party lines as what happened in Penang recently is backward, self-serving, and undemocratic.

Dear Tun Dr Mahathir,

firstly, this is phenomenal, you have always been my hero since my primary school. We Malaysians owe you for the world we are living in.

2. because of the traffic that is coming your way, why not have your own blog site instead of hosting your blog here are blogspot? your blog is worth lots of money.

3. I think BN should work with opposition whenever it benefits the rakyat and country. We should not oppose a good idea just because it comes from the other party.

looking forward to your next post. this feels so good, this blog allows us to reach you.

You're a legend!

Dear Tun Dr. Mahathir,

Those you've listed are necessary steps to take to arrive at the reformed judiciary as an independent pillar of our unique 4 pillars of democracy.

Will it not suffice to just undo all that's been done since 1988 at the height of the so called judiciary crisis ? To retrace the steps so to speak.

BTW, good to have you blogging and adding a sane and sober voice that is so really needed in our society now.

Just want to let you know that, despite the shortcomings during your tenure, you did succeed in making some of us young Malaysians proud citizens of this country. If only you succeeded even more by uniting all races and dismantled racist policies, the potential of this country would have been boundless.

I wish you good health and happy blogging

Assalamualaikum.

Dear Tun,

Greetings & my best wishes to you, Tun Siti Hasmah & Family

It is indeed a pleasure to to read your Blogsite.

I still stand by what I had said to you personally sometime ago.

Very few people understand the "vision of a leader" to put this great nation on the world map.

As they say "Talk is cheap" but to ACHIEVE takes vision, focus, committment & COURAGE to make DECISIONS on a TIMELY basis.

I also would like to commend you, at your age, on your ability to handle the interview on Hardtalk, where many so called "leaders" would have lost their cool & crumbled.

This nation badly needs you & your Medical/Political/Global exposure, holistic overview & experience to handle any crisis that may arise.

The present BN is in self denial, its autopilot locked-on a self-destruct mode at the expense of this great nation, its assets & downtrodden rayaat !
May ALLAH SWT bless you and Tun Hasmah with good health, prosperity and longevity!

Assalamualaikum Tun.

Buat saya, sumbangan terbesar Tun ialah buku "The Malay Dilemma".
Bilakah agaknya buku "The Malay Dilemma II" dapat diterbitkan?

Sekian dulu, wassalam.

Tun, you have raised a number of important questions which need urgent addressing. But, many would undoubtedly agree that the current system of appointing of judges leaves much to be desired as evidenced by the less than satisfactory quality of judges we have now. Surely, for the sake of improving the integrity of the judiciary to dispense justice in the interest of the people and nation, the ruling and the opposition party can work together don't you think?

Sir,

Malaysia has long progressed since the day it was liberated... much has change and many more to come.. But are we to linger on the past and be oblivious to the future?? Nay, i say so.. Tides have change.. What should one to be ahead in this ever-progressing world??

Yes, many politicians have done things that has effected positively and negatively to the country... but as a nation, we are not just judges and bystanders, all in all, we suffer and are effected by every single thing they make...

Mistakes cannot be erased.. but the future still lies ahead.. People make mistakes... No one is blameful or blameless in this situation...Nor one should accused them of doing so..

Racism and discrimination looms constantly in the world.. I've seen it in another part of the world as well as close at home.. but could one change it?? it lies with the leaders of the country... Is Malaysia going to accept the fact that protecting bumiputeras and giving them incentives will hinder the country to progress as a whole??? I do not know..

But as a concerned Malaysian, i noticed many people of the same nationality but of a variety of races are discontent with the unfair treatment, it is extremely palpable...

Can one change it before its too late??? Possible.. but it still lies with what the leaders would do to achieved that...

My regards to you,
Serena T,
a concerned teen lingering far from Malaysia yets heart feeling close at bay

God bless

halimah said...

Welcome Che Det! What a joy to have you on the bandwagon!

The names of candidates shortlisted by the Judiciary Commission should go to the Conference of Rulers rather than just the Agong who may himself be biased.

The Conference of Rulers should base their decision on this list alone and no other.Otherwise we may see favourite judges being inserted into the list at the eleventh hour by His Royal Hignesses.

This way the Executive will be truly separated from the Judiciary and the PM will not be seen to be "advising" either the Judiciary or the Conference of Rulers.

BUT to me Che Det, the most outstanding concern is the calibre of the candidates themselves.

Will they be outstanding legal minds with impeccable wisdom and personal integrity?

Will they be people with the widest possible knowledge and the most acute judgement to whom we can trust our most profound legal decisions.

Will they have an outstanding grasp of English and Malay to be able to decipher the most intricate and complex uses of language in order to interpret a case correctly.

And will they be able to articulate and write out their judgements using the most appropriate style and argumentations?

In other words the candidates for the position of the Chief Judge of the land must be superior human beings with superior skills and accomplishments, and with as few human flaws as possible!

In other words in order to select the candidates, the members of the JC must be superior human beings as well!

And we must expect the same of the State Rulers and the Agong!

Otherwise the whole process and the procedures will be a farce!!!

Hi Che Det,
I read about this blog on the papers today and jumped right at it. It's certainly a good surprise.

Firsly I hope that you are well and may Allah bless you with continuous wisdom and health to pursue your passion.

I am very proud of our country and even more proud of your excellent leadership. Basically proud that I once have a gutsy PM who "Speaks" - not one that just nods and falls asleep while in duty.

I am not commenting your posts yet but I've been waiting all my life to say this. Despite all the allegations and judgment on you - you have served the country well. You have subtly worked on closing the gaps for the Malays...i.e. producing a more intellectual race by providing better education apportunities via sponsorships, low interest education financing, higher quotas in local Uni's etc, generating more wealth for the people - quotas for employment in certain sectors, licensing requirements and the list goes on. The more significant would be the ASB scheme. Yet, many of those who benefited have too short memories to appreciate.

I'm not one of the "priviledged" but I do have memory of what a good leader have done for the country and nation as a whole. And I take this opportunity to say "Thank You".

Do by all means continue your quest to help the people see the truth. But never never neglect your own priorities - your health, your family and your life.

Passionately,
Asyiken

Wallahualam.

it's interesting to read ur letter in The Sun today regarding the recent general election. I'm of the opinion that tha rakyat now is scrutinizing the gov.. I call this the "mix n match trial edition" period where the rakyat will analyse and compare the works of the reps elected. while it's more of a case of "ajar sikit" the BN reps rather than ppl lost their faith for the BN, the BN will definitely b the 'minorities' in the Parliament if they continue their way in treating the rakyat. The rakyat has spoken, and the leaders need to hear them..pronto.. i mean , i was a supporter of BN since i knw what politics is. Even in UIA, where the majority of its students're being labelled(and i think rightly so) as supporters of Opposition, i was still a BN supporters. Some ppl even called me "cucu Mahathir"( much to my pleasure..hehe).. i was quick to defend the gov back then, bcoz it's so easy to do that. Nowadays however, eventhough i'm still a loyal supporter of BN, i find it hard, even frustrating, to defend for BN. i hate that feeling of supporting without any reason to do so.

Dear Tun,

Good day. First of all, I doubt if you have the time to read all post comments. To sum up my thought...

I grew up respecting you as a great nation leader. And I really do believe no other local leaders are as capable as you are. You did contribute tremendously to the country, no doubt to your own self as well.

You know, now that you're not a PM, trying to do away with your past issues like you did simply isn't convincing enough. 'I cant remember' with the Lingam issue, it just doesnt fit. Being 80 but physically fit and vocal in your criticism, does that sound plausible?

Anyway, I'm in no position to criticize much since your contribution outweighs a lot, but I do hope you could still contribute for the great of the nation. I am a mere citizen simply hoping for equality and eventually, Malaysia as a developed and respected nation internationally instead of racial bickering and ignorant UMNO politicians who only cares for themselves (NOTE: Not malay in general but umnoputras). Cheers.

What this person said about you is nothing but a big lie. Yes, your rule was the darkest period for the dark forces like him, who rather see malays, islam and malaysia destroyed and in racial tensions.
You have indeed been successfull in keeping such miscreants and scum away during your time.
THe way you administered is now looked upon by so many rulers who want to emulate the way you kept prosperity and peace.
You are good leader not only for malays but for chinese and the indians in Malaysia, your loss is trule felt when you are not in administration anymore,
