Royal Commissions

1. The Royal Commission is not a court of law and is not supposed to judge and sentence people. But the fact that such commissions are often manned by judges or ex-judges seems to indicate that principles of justice and determination of right and wrong should be based on legal principles.

2. But clearly the Royal Commission on the Lingam tapes has allowed itself the liberty of stretching legal principles in order possibly to achieve a certain objective.

3. One sentence in the report is very telling and I quote, “In the process, Dr Mahathir Mohamad was also entangled. That possibility was ominous when examined against the factual circumstances surrounding the rejection of Malek Ahmad as Chief Judge of Malaya. Their ultimate aim or purpose could not be ascertained with exactitude given the limitation under the (Commission) terms of reference. It could be related to the fixing of cases as submitted by counsel for the Bar and others. Certainly it is reasonable to suggest that it could not be anything but self-serving.”

4. Through these unusual reasoning based on ominous possibility, even though they could not ascertain with exactitude, the Commission concluded that I could be related to the fixing of cases.

5. I am now named as one of those to be investigated by the authorities.

6. I await the investigation which I suspect is possibly intended to incriminate me one way or another.

7. Indeed based on the arguments of the Commission itself I can say that possibly it was set up in order to find something to pin on me, to drag me to court etc and generally humiliate me.

8. Indeed, although I cannot ascertain with exactitude, it may be possible that the Commission members may have been instructed to pin something on me. This is a reasonable suggestion given that for the Prime Minister “it would be self-serving.”

9. This new legal principle that ‘if it is possible then it could have been’ opens a plethora of possibilities. These possibilities should be investigated through Royal Commissions. We would then be able to have further investigations and possibly charge certain people in court. At the very least the Royal Commissions can create doubts regarding the integrity of selected people.

10. For a start I would suggest a Royal Commission to look into the possibilities of lobbying and abuse of position by Dato Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi when he was Deputy Prime Minister as is recorded by the United Nations in which he was listed for being involved in the Oil for Food business with Iraq. He is also on record as abusing his position by lobbying the Iraqi authorities in favour of his sister-in-law. Ministers, Deputy Prime Ministers and Prime Ministers are prohibited from doing business. Letters of recommendation for sisters-in-law clearly constitute lobbying.

11. Another Royal Commission should investigate the merger between ECM-Libra, at that time partly owned by the Prime Minister’s son-in-law and a well-known crony, with a Government Company – Avenue Assets, in which the Prime Minister who is also Finance Minister was possibly responsible for devaluing the price of Avenue Assets and giving ECM-Libra, run by the Prime Minister’s crony, Kalimullah, the management role.

12. A third Royal Commission should look into how the 5% royalty (Wang Ehsan) due to Trengganu was spent. It is possible that the usual procedures for fund allocation and spending were not adhered to. The possibility of corruption when contracts were given should be fully investigated. The Commission can, on the basis of possibility implicate the Prime Minister, the Menteri Besar of Trengganu and the Prime Minister’s son-in-law Khairy Jamaluddin, in the misuse and abuse of authority.

13. Now the new Menteri Besar of Terengganu says that the billions spent on the Monsoon Cup, Crystal Mosque etc did not come from “Wang Ehsan” but from Federal funds. Who decided to allocate so much Federal funds to Terengganu which already has some six billion Ringgit in oil royalties unspent.

14. Mere denial by the Prime Minister, the Menteri Besar and the Contractor should not be accepted as it is reasonable to suggest that they could not be anything but self-serving. The possibility here is ominous.

15. There is no need for the Royal Commission to ascertain anything with exactitude. Mere possibilities should suffice for the Royal Commissions to make their recommendations and for full publicity and pictures to be released to the Kalimullah controlled mainstream media. A full investigation by the authorities should then be carried and the innocence proven though not necessarily beyond reasonable doubt.

16. When the Royal Commissions have finished their work, new Royal Commissions should be set up to look into other possibilities of abuses of power by the present Government and all the previous Governments.

I think Malaysia has the biggest number of Royal Commission in the world. Why not we have Royal Commission to check on the whole cabinet members? May be then we know the truth.

  8. Dear Tun,

The intention is very clear indeed that the government under a weak leadership of Pak Lah is trying to satisfy the opposition's demand to corner you. And like a person who is already "dah bodoh stupid" just follow whatever they demand for so that his credibility after the disasterous election will still be intact. All this strategy is to divert attention and to project his dented image !! But the situation is NOT in his favour day by day. Make no mistake about it.

  9. Salam Tun,

Dr. Mahathir is number one in suprising people.

Do take care yourself always Tun. We need you!!

  15. Salam TUN,

So many Royal Commissions being set up nowadays. This clearly indicates that the present government is weak and busy dealings with unresolved issues. Is this the way to be transparent in the government? I don't think so.

Your answer 'my perogative' as PM to make recommendation for the appoinment of CJ to the Agong did not seem to be well accepted by the the Royal Commission and may be annoyed them.

Not to worry on this matter. It was not you that made the judgement. It was the tribunal that did it. I agree with Tengku Razaleigh's opinion in The Star today 3/6/08.

Your points on no.10 onwards in the article are relevant to be further investigated and it is very omnious.

  20. The Prime Minister had advocated transparency and accountability in public spending on the onset of assuming power. Even police personnel were required to wear tags of 'anti-rasuah'.

Here is a good opportunity for the PM to demonstrate his 'impeccable' transparency and that of his son-in-law. it would be interesting to set up a Royal Commission on the 'business empire' of AKK(Abdullah-Kamaludin-Khairi).

Surely I do agree to your proposal as this involve somebody who is our present leader and therefore I hope the matter will be looked into by relevant authority or at least the PM will have to immediately respond to all these allegations. No sweeping under the carpet please. The exactitude to the above matter is surely not small but 6 billion unspend wang ehsan money is big and who allocate the Fed fund to Terengganu is another issue. There have been conflicting stories to the above and personally what you (tunM) raised is definitely serious affair. The PM has been quiet on these issues as if nothing happened and if there is no answer to the above I now understand why u wanted him out not just out but have to be immediately. May be also that there may be more than what you just reveal.

  27. Salam buat Tun;

I'm wondering, is this what my dear Prime Minister is doing? If so, it looks like the Prime Minister work can be done by anyone...and off course sleeping at most of the function that what my 6 years old son did, just like him!

Anyway, now rakyat (those who read your writing) already know what actually he is doing by back up of his Islam Hadhari, and I believe still he will not step down because what he is trying to do now is to raise petrol price after minyak masak, tepung, beras and others consumer prices is going up.
Making people don't believe with BN especially UMNO.

One thing I always refer to (kept in my mind) is about the story of a man called Wahid who then became a Firaun. Looking how he (Wahid) climb up an became a Firaun, ruled the people as god is just like that person who is trying to burn the UMNO down now, with his menantu as the Hamman. And still Firaun didn't step down and cannot be steped down!

I'm wondering why he is trying to burn down the Malay strongest party as he get older and be the Prime Minister through it?

Anyway for people like me, "ditelan mati emak, diluah mati bapa."
Why? Because, if my friends and me (Pemuda) again we vote the opposition in the next election, it means they might win again. The question is, if they won, do we win? And at the same time, we can't vote BN with the sleeping beauty and his George Of The Jungle (menantu) in UMNO.

  28. Dear Tun,

The new Law Minister Zaid must look into your suggestion to have Royal Commissions on those issues that you raised if really he is talking about reforms. Or else he is just not worth a Minister at all. My perception about him "pandai main wayang je"!! Cakap ada gaya tapi no substance. I think Rais Yatim or Syed Hamid are more polished lawyers and deserve to be Law Minister. He is not up to the mark as a Law Minister.

Ultra-right wing Capitalism vs Left-wing liberalism.

Centralism or Moderates are for wimps or people who are unsure or lack of confidence or ignorant and confused people.

If you believe in duality of cosmic forces that exists in our universe, then read on.
The ancient Egyptians and Chinese believe the existence of such forces.

    Here are the examples:

    Yin vs Yang

    Negative vs Positive

    Dark vs Light

    Proposer vs Opposer

Arts,Social Science, Business students vs Science and Technology students

The art way of attaining power vs The science way of attaining power

    Majority-Democracy vs Minority-Socialism

    Consumer society vs Producer society

    Capitalists vs Production Workers

    Profits before people vs
    People before profits

    Capitalism vs Socialism

    Female vs Male

    Cold vs Hot

    Politicians vs Technocrats-leaders

An inverted pyramid human food chain vs Pyramid human food chain

    USA vs China

    West vs East

    Water-Wood vs Fire-Earth

    Bankers-Water vs Intellectuals-Fire

    Ketuanan Melayu Ultra-Kapitalist-UMNO-BN
    vs
    Ketuanan Islam Kebajikan-PR

    You can only choose one.
There can only be one that can be placed at the top of the human food chain in your society or nation.

    So choose wisely.

  35. Dear Tun,

I have been reading your writings without missed and have read most of the comments if not all.

So, for this "Royal Commissions" posting, let me be the first to comment.

The Royal Commissions on VK Lingam video had garnered many public interests and they are eagerly waited to know the outcome of it.

It is irony for all of this to happen now, why not before. But the answer remain uncertain, and in my humble opinion this happen due to many reasons that only certain people or group of people might know.

The Royal Commission or whatever commission we might want to call it is always happen to a person or people that no longer in power.

It is interesting of what Tun has highlighted that the commission need to be set up to investigate what is currently happening to the people in power. But the question is, can it happen? Or is there anyone who dares to do that? I guess not.

So, if transparency and indepence of judiciary are thought to be taking place, it should be for all, regardless of who of the past, present or future. But, it is always happen for the thing that past, hardly at present. So, what type of transparency we are talking about.

Frankly in my humble opinion, for thing that pass, we should let it go, as we could not change anything, the only thing is that we could all learn from that. So, if we have to sentence the person of his past mistakes, is this making the current situation better, if we are to close our eyes on the same mistakes or even worse mistake make by a person or people that currently in power.

Transparency and independence of judiciary would not have any significant if whatever abuses done by the recent people in power will always get away without any charge or investigate by so called the "Royal Commissions", for me it is just a glamour name.

  38. Assalammualaikum Tun,

The VK Lingam Royal Commission is being used to "wag the dog" with regards to all the problems facing by the country under the current Prome Minister. It was not surprising that the oppositions and the HP6 cabinets wanted all six individuals to be investigated and punished.

Even if the ACA and AG couldn't find enough evidence to prosecute all six individuals including yourself, the damage has already been done. The Royal Commission on Lingam is just a tool to discredit you and destroy your impeccable reputation to prolong the PM grip on power which will lead to the inevitable destruction of Barisan Nasional.

  39. Salam Yg Bhg Tun,

There are too many possibilities in the Royal Commissions and one of them is the possibility that they are not and won't be walking on their own feet.

A hundred of Royal Commissions can be set up to investigate misused of powers by those people with authorities but what we want to know and be certain of;-is this Royal Commission giving their judgement without being influenced by a person or a group of people with powers.

As for the Lingam tapes case, you yourself mentioned that the Royal Commission “allowed itself the liberty of stretching legal principles in order possibly to achieve a certain objective.”

What more to be said then?

As for the possibility that you will be investigated and called to state your case, I think you know that this should be taken as an opportunity and a platform for you to tell the court and people who the real culprits are.

When there are too much of possibles and possibilities, I could only say that "it is possible that my mother was actually my father".

  43. ASSALAMUALAIKUM TUN....

Kerajaan sekarang ibarat tiada kuasa apabila harga barang naik mendadak walaupun kerajaan memberi jaminan tiada kenaikan.
Rakyat dibelakangmu Tun...Tun Dr.Mahathir kesayangan rakyat Malaysia.

  46. Tun,

You're saying the Royal Commission that is set to investigate the Lingam tape is there to incriminate/humiliate (biased in a way towards) you. Which means you're telling us the Royal Commision should not be believed or trusted.

"Indeed, although I cannot ascertain with exactitude, it may be possible that the Commission members may have been instructed to pin something on me."

Then you propose the establishment of the Royal Commission to investigate the present government, and hope, with all fingers crossed, that the Royal Commission would be unbiased?

If we were to believe the findings of the Royal Commision towards you is biased in one way or another, what's the purpose of you recommending the setting up of more Royal 'biased' Commisions?

Perhaps that this post in your blog serves the same purpose as what you think the Royal Commision did to you? "To create doubt regarding the integrity of selected people", in this case, our current prime minister himself?

  48. Assalamualaikum....

Walaupun Tun banyak berjasa tetapi kenapa Tun letak jawatan terlalu awal jika Tun tahu kesannya.

  55. Salam Tun,

    Nilai Satu Bilion

Mula-mula dulu dizaman Tun kalau cakap projek satu bilion ni kira dah besar dan mmg banyak orang komplen dan mempertikaikan.

Tapi, di zaman Pak Lah beliau membuatkan nilai satu bilion itu umpama jutaan sahaja. Mula-mula memerintah batalkan semua projek mega dan kata pembaziran dan tiada ongkos.

Wah, sekarang ni berbilion-bilion pula projeknya, kalau cakap satu bilion sekarang ni orang dah tak pandang dah.

    Suruhanjaya Diraja Raya

    Selain daripada itu saya juga mencadangkan suruhanjaya diraja ditubuhkan juga untuk perkara-perkara dibawah;

    1) menyiasat kenapa kita kalah dalam kes Pulau Batu Putih dan ungkapan menang-menang oleh Rais Yatim

    2) menyiasat berapakah wang yang dilaburkan untuk menubuhkan suruhanjaya diraja vk lingam?

    3) menyiasat kenapa ezam masuk umno dan adakah terlibat perbelanjaan wang kerajaan

    :)

Kalau tak pandai, mintalah nasihat TDM. Apa nak malu? Sekurang2nya dapat bimbingan dari pengalaman TDM.

Kalau nak buat perubahan janganlah mendadak.

Senghaja cari pasai.

Lantiklah TDM jadi penasihat.Senangkan buat kerja nanti. Ini tak ambil KJ jadi penasihat. Alamat merudumlah nanti. Silap2 haribulan jadi Ketua Pembangkang.

  62. Dear Tun,

    Love your writing so much.

All the best to you, Tun.

4.Kepimpinan Pak Lah memeng lemah...kerana tak tahu sejarah perjuangan UMNO...hingga UMNO sekarang bukan lagi UMNO.

    7. Kepimpinan Pak Lah memang lemah ....kehilangan Pulau Batu Putih ke Singapore, kerana Team Pak Lah kurang bersedia semasa ke ICJ kelmarin...asik teringatkan "MONSOON" aja- tanya D.Rais Yatim..

8.Kepimpinan Pak Lah memang lemah....

    9. Kepimpinan Pak Lah memang Lemah...Kerana Projek Wilayah Iskandar seperti menjual Johor pada Singapore dan Yahudi(Haliburton- duit darah rakyat iraq)

10.Kepimpinan Pak Lah memang lemah....melibatkan diri secara langsung - kemterian keuangan beliau dengan ECM LIBRA.-- tak boleh nak tutup lagi dah rakyat dah tahu....

    11. Kepimpinan Pak LAh memang lemah... terkait dengan penjualan saham harta negara ke Singapura-- kerja KHAIRY JAMALUDIN.

    12. Kepimpinan Pak Lah memang lemah... kononnya tak percaya sistem kehakiman gara isu lingam...jadi semuanya kes buat ROYAL COMMISSION, sebagai tutup kelemahan beliau.

    13. Kepimpinan Pak LAh memang lemah... kecoh dengan 2 perlantikan Menteri Besar, dan Pak Lah tak turun padang.

    17. Pak Lah BERTAMBAH LEMAH.....bila BN not in control lagi dalam dewan Parlimen....dah macam pasar borong.

    18. Pak lah memang lemah...

  66. Assalamu aleikum.

    Dear Tun Dr. Mahathir,

I'm a foreigner who lived in Malaysia during the 90s for seven years while you were prime minister. I was especially impressed with your book, "The Malay Dilemma".

I have questions of both historical and current political interest which I trust are not irrelevant to this discussion.

When you left the premiership, why was not a post established analogous to Lee Kuan Yew's post as Senior Minister to guard against the possibility of the seriously disruptive consequences resulting from any successor? I've often wondered about this.

Your relinquishing day-to-day control as prime minister while continuing in an overall supportive general supervisory capacity as senior minister would have furnished continued stability to Malaysia, just as Lee Kuan Yew has for Singapore.

Is there any chance that you will accept a return to leadership, either in a role returning as p.m. or in a new post as a senior minister?

They are only trying to conduct themselves politically and stabilize themselves after the weakened position of the last GE, and one usual way is to put the blame on previous administrations of which you are its latest ominous head.

With overwhelming respect to you Sir, your suggestions of more Royal Commissions will definitely not be carried out by this present administration. It will only be done by the next administration.

Also Sir, whenever you goes on the stand, everyone has to stop breathing and even stop believing, as the words you humbly utter, are often unexpected.

People do not expect you Sir not to remember or said words to that effect for obvious political reasons when it is you Sir who has coined those very words that lambast your own ethinicity as having such a permanent psychological disorder - Melayu Mudah Lupa.

I again have to repeat Sir, that your asking for more Royal Commissions will not work. They will only put you on the stand. As you pointed out, they will look for anyway to tie you and do you in.

They might even try to get you behind bars. That will certainly be the day. Anwar Ibrahim is said to have repented via that process. I am not insuanating that you are in anyway guilty. Unless of course, this time round your first words to the court is something no one expected such as,

"Would you like me to plead guilty then, your honour?". You would then become a political prisoner of conscience of the most shrewdest and dramatic era.

    In politics, nothing is impossible.

And i know, Sir, Tun, that you are a master SunTze strategist of the highest order.

Nevertheless, it will not be unappropriate and misplaced even if i can arrange here my ending with some kind of condolences. To the present administration that is.

  69. By the way Sir, when is your next public appearance in town? I couldn't get to ask you any question the last time in Crystal Crown due to the chairman controlling your talk having to shout incessantly for people to stop asking too many questions.

It is not his fault. He has to control the counter speeches rather than questions from the floor. There were too many questioners or rather too many microphones on the floor.

People should write in ahead with their questions just like in Parliament.

They should also not let you stand when you speak at the rostum. It is very fine to see you speak from the chair, at the table, on the stage. You stood for more than an hour. At your age, you fooled us.

Well, i still cannot get enough of your live in-person speeches. Not for anything, but i read from Anthony Robbins about Neuro-Linguistic Prgramming or NLP that if you study or stare at someone long enough, you might get to rub off some of that person's dust onto you.

I think that NLP crab is true. Look at Ezam. Sebiji macam Anwar apabila bercakap. He should now rub back off Anwar's dust. He should stare for a long time at Pak Lah.

  70. All this for trying to be the first to comment often left one forgeting to read other people's attempts to be the first to comment in your blog.

This time i read and saw Ali Rustam's comment of 'Just wanna be the first to comment'. Well i got bad news for you Ali. You are not the first one it seems.

However if you can pay me and give me your blogspot password i can see what i can do.

My question to Ali Rustam firstly is "What is your comment?!"

Is that a comment by itself?

Many of the comments here are also of such nature, trying to be 'Just wanna be the first to comment'.

I don't think Che Det's blog need such comments. He needs real comments. Otherwise visitors from outer space will be fooled to come to his blog thinking that he is the most popular and thus global leader of the world. When in fact most of the comments or hits are from people who "Just want to be the first to see".

I can offer no other explanation of why Ali Rustam will want to stop lurking and even trying to 'Just wanna be the first to comment'.

Perhaps he is cross-posting to get readers to his blog. This is despicable and recalcitrant behaviour.

This blogging is getting commercialised. Soon we will be having blog planners, blog jagas, blog ah longs and blog tariks.

  77. Assalamualaikum Tun,

Typical role for Royal Commission and legal bodies in Malaysia.

  85. Dear Tun,

I agree with you Tun that a royal commission has no legal standing in determining whether a person is guilty or not.

For me, a royal commission is nothing more than just a committee (bunch ?) of people appointed or asked by the DYMM Agong to probe into something. Their findings have no legal standing but imply a strong recommendation for the government to initiate a proper and official investigation a.k.a "Kertas Siasatan".

It is clear that judges are appointed by DYMM Agong upon the recommendation of the PM. It is the within the powers of the PM. Up to him who should he recommends.

If Anwar's ultimate intention is to drag you in for being responsible on such appointment, then he is implying that he wants to do the same on the Agong for appointing!!

    Dont worry Tun..you shall prevail!

There's a couple of Malay proverbs that would best describe what Pak Lah is doing to you.

    "Paku dulang paku serpih"
    "Seperti menepuk air di dulang"
    "Meludah ke langit"

There's nothing worst than people who act clean and pious; pointing fingers at others when they are themselves sinners.

To be honest, the rakyat knew you had your excesses when you were in power but they were fine with it because you kept their lives happy and make them proud to be Malaysians. What has Pak Lah contributed to the people?

As for the Royal Commission they are only doing their job but to entangle you with the cases I believe the main objective is to bring you down. You was the Prime Minister that time and the privilege for making the Executive Decision was yours. The latest attempt to tarnish you now are by naming you and your family members of holding fixed deposit accounts an the Israeli National Bank with monies reaching billions of USD. Hope that Tun would clarify these matters ASAP. And I would suggest that the Royal Commission to investigate the authentic of the DSAI's phone conversation and the videos, Paklah's involvement in Ministry of Finance and others. It would be best if you take the action promptly just like the previous letter to the Israelis Prime Minister. Similarly the why the Khazanah Harta involvement to save your son's Pantai during the economic crisis. Give the rakyat the clearer picture of what is really happening during those time. But be cautious not to get overboard of the OSA Act.
Shame on you Paklah for being a lousy PM. And for Tun, you are a true patriot. Wassalam

  94. The richest unemployed, even cried and said he made a loss in the investment by selling the stocks. Why no one lodged a police or ACA report on this issue? We blame you for not making ACA a more effective agency.

If Lim Kit Siang will raise this issue in the parliament for a royal commission, sure he will get 82+1(Mahathir junior) votes. Unfortunately, opposition is needed. It is different from what you preached before that we need no opposition. Do you expect any UMNO members will raise the issue or raise their hand? You raised it only after you became a non-UMNO member (joke).

When one has power, he has everything. That is why Abdullah hates to release his power. He knows that he will be worst than your situation because he has not earned any respect from the public. Most of UMNO members just wanted benefit. They supported Abdullah or not saying anything because of their own good. I hope you will not endorse any of these senior UMNO members because I feel they are as hopeless as Abdullah. Let the opposition rule the country. It is healthy and democratic for the system to have a change in the government once in every several years. This is indeed an effective way to eradicate corruption and no cronies can so quickly establish themselves under a healthy political system. If you are a true leader, you should call for a change in the government, bearing in mind that we are living in a democratic society. This would be your biggest contribution to Malaysia, well above your 22-year physical development of Malaysia.

On the racist card that you wrote a few days ago, I hope you did realize that Malay is also an immigrant to bolehland. It is common every where that the earlier settlers, not the native, claimed the ownership of the land, and then discriminated the late comers. The case is very obvious in Australia, America, Taiwan, Malaysia and many other places. The ones who conquered will never admit that they robbed the land of the native people. We must learn from history. The white from Europe kill the red Indians and took the land, and now they stopped as much as possible the poor immigrants from South America and Asia. The Australians are doing the same thing.

Despite all that had been said about your ironic ruling, I am glad that you developed Malaysia into a country with more press and speech freedom compared to Singapore. And now you are enjoying such kind of freedom yourself, else how do you condemn Abdullah?

  95. TDM suggests that Royal Commissions do the job of ACA. He should suggest ACA perform the investigations on the 'cases' which he said should be handled by Royal Commissions. 96. Assalamualaikum Tun,

Mana pergi Ezam ...??

Hidup UMNO, Hidup Pembangkang, Hidup Tun Mahathir..!

  97. Salam Hormat Tun,
I am not that technically law oriented, be it Royal Commission or whatever commission that may be putting on the road show lately. What I am trying to figure out is that why are we focusing on the past?
It is good to see the current government trying to make right, things that they believe was wrong in the past? But one also has to remember, you can't change History! No one can, even Hitler can't.
What's done is done, period! I sometimes wonder whether our current government is not capable to look ahead and forward in nature. They say, too many cook spoils he soup?

Kalau nak betulkan the Malaysian justice system, buat la. Make right what was , in their frame of mind, was wrong. It should be now, today and ahead. Not now, yesterday and once upon a time. Then we will cease to exist. In fact, we are wasting time looking into the past, when we should be looking into the future. Or is it no one dares to look ahead because no one have the capacity to figure out what to do next?

Look at it this way, Tun...you brought the country forward 20 years ahead, into the future. Even, some are left behind form the incapacity to change and adapt. I have always say, 'No Tun - No Internet..No Tun - No Highway, No Tun - No Penang Bridge, No Tun - No Langkawi', and many many more. What can we say about it now? Last four years to date...now?,..nothing, except dok cari 'Pekasam' nak buat isu !

Then the hand brake were applied to every sense of your development plan and putting in great effort, time and money to steer the people's perspective into Agriculture. Agric Development? The Thai's and Indon's has left us 10 years behind where Agricultural development is concern, and hence we were taken back 10 years backward into the past, Agriculture? I believe Thailand and even Indonesia are far more better off than we are!

People are fed up, no one is focusing on the effort to do something about now, today and forward ahead. For example, the current rise in prices of materials around us today? Nobody cares!.. people don't care how big you are, how high your position maybe, people only wants to know how much you care. The moment you forget teh plight of the people, they will forget you 100 times, except for those who are still having projects being delivered on their lap!

All these Royal Commission or whatever commission that they want to have, as mentioned in the comments earlier that, 'Malaysia has the biggest number of Royal Commission in the world !' is only a way to get back to you, to humiliate you. That's what our current government is good at nowadays! Anyway, whatever setup it maybe, it is always people, and people are not perfect. Perfections are not meant for humans!

Macam tu la, orang Melayu kita...PHD! I know Tun, you marah kalau kita hubungkait orang Melayu dengan PHD (perasaan hasad dengki), but look at it now...it is for a fact, True in many ways.

Nak jumpa Tun sekali kalau boleh, kita sembang over a cup of decaf coffee !

In this context, you are truly commendable and noble, to want to right the wrongs and seek justice, for the many abuses of power by the previous govt (under you, Tun) and the current govt under Pak Lah (I refer to your last para.).

What I don't understand is your comments and demands (in your previous articles and speeches) that non-Bumis should not have equal rights as Bumis. Why this racial divide or distinction - when all of us, Malaysians can live as equals, in peace, harmony and prosperity?

The govt must give special previledges, help, assistance and opportunities to the financially-disadvantaged or lower income group of all races, living in both urban and rural areas. Malaysia is a 'wealthy' country, as compared to many of our neighbours and we can surely help our own people who are finding it difficult to eke a living in this 'prosperous' country of ours.

TIDOR DAN KHAYAL saja !! Atau knowing his intelligence he doesn't know what, where, and when to begin. Poor Pak Lah !! Tapi masih lagi bercita-cita tinggi. We know his capacity and he must accept that he is unable to cope with the demand and responsibilty of being a Prime Minister. Just too heavy for him to carry the burden. He should acknowledge it and gracefully RESIGN !!

Pardon me, correct me if I'm underatnding is incorrect, from what I understand the duty of the Royal Commission is to find out facts and more facts and to suggest or to determint whether this matter is worthy and subject for further investigation or presecution by the AG. Whether who & whom to be investigated will be subjected.

BTW, does the Royal commission call upon themselve to make inquiries about a case OR they are still subject to the Government's concent whether they can or cannot make inquiries.

    Cheers..

    AYAHANDAS dan BONDA RAKYAT,

Perhaps every states should have Royal Commissions to investigate to investigate abuses of powers and misuse of state's assets,
Perhaps the Civil services, police and the armed forces should too
and above all, the very people who are empowered to initiate charges and investigate i.e. the AG Office and the BPR.

Heard amongst them were people apparently 'gifted' mostly in the form of landed properties (both TOL and alienated) by doing some David Blaine's magic acts on the investigation files/reports.
Wondered, whether a Royal Commission for the Royals is in order since practically all areas of the branches of Power have been covered.

Let no other try to forestall it
It is for the good of the country

    Royal Commissions
Set it up to find the truth
    Be fair and sincere
    No finger pointing

    On running the country
    On the procedures established
And on the laws available then

Yet nobody is above the law
In politics cabinet leaders think otherwise

Even though people voted them into power
    And so these leaders forget

  116. Dear readers,

I think Tun was just being sarcastic over the setting up of royal commissions. The futility, the redundancy as well as time wasting is not what the nation needs.

The public must not be unfair to judge against people affected over past decisions. The unfairness of the govt in setting up royal commissions to investigate probable past misdeeds but at the same time close both eyes to the misdeeds of the current leaders is very astounding. The public must not be swayed with this kind of misdirection. The main crux of the problem is due to the stupidity and greedy current govt.
    please stay focussed.

Tun, from the beginning the Commission that was established to investigate on the Lingam tape is merely a farce to the judiciary system in our country.

How could they entertain such manner when they know that the validity of the tape is beyond reasonable doubt?

Apart from that, it has been proven on the authentecity of the tape, which was recorded with an intention to provide as an espial proof and has never been questioned by the commission.

How could the Government go so far and is willing to set up a Commission enquiry based on a clip from videotape?

For me, this IS part of a plan to demonize you Tun.

I could say that it is similar to what the Jews will do in facing such situations. Now I know why you had recommended me to read the book, The Synagogue of Satan.

  121. Dear Tun,

Life is full of trials and tribulations. Sound judgment based on justice and integrity is vital for a healthy mind. Likewise in the Court of Laws or Royal Commission of inquiry one needs to exert justice and integrity in judgment to avoid being plagued with ill feeling in the later years. I would like to remind myself on the following verses from the Quran:

“You who believe! Show integrity for the sake of God, bearing witness with justice. Do not let hatred for a people incite you into not being just. Be just. That is closer to righteousness. Heed God. God is aware of what you do."(Qur'an, Surah Al-Maidah, verse 8) and verse 188 from Surah Al-Baqarah “And do not eat up your property among yourselves for vanities, nor use it as bait for the judges, with intent that ye may eat up wrongfully and knowingly a little of (other) people's property”.

May ALLAH bless Tun and his family.

  122. Assalamualaikum Tun,

"Kuasa Melayu Semakin Kecil"

Ini negara MELAYU, kita berhak bercakap hal bangsa kita. Ini bukan isu warna kulit.HAK KITA. Bangsa lain sepatutnya memahami hal ini.

Sebagai rakyat biasa kita hanya perlu wakil....wakil untuk memastikan Malaysia masih lagi hak melayu.

    Wassalam

  127. Tun,

Kalau Tun perlu disiasat, maka terima saja lah Tun.

Negara kita penduduknya sedikit tapi melimpah kurniaan alam semulajadi. Kenapa pula GDP per kapita (pendapatan purata setiap rakyat) masih rendah berbanding negara-negara maju yang saya namakan di atas? Mana perginya wang kita semua Tun?

    Syabas beribu syabas Tun.

  130. Che Det,

- Dr Mahathir

    Nota:

And once that's done, we can all go to the polls again and vote in a fair government that works for the Tuan and also the Puan and Mr and Mrs, Miss and little Masters of Malaysia.

    ROYAL COMMISION

What you saying is if ABB really form commission without any favors side couldn’t took place as he itself will be investigate in other new commission to study ECM Libra reverse took over Avenue capital,Wang Insan,Monsoon Cup,Patrick Badawi, even contract worth billion for Scomi, many more.
Is always hard to prove direct corruption but no hard to understand if we look into how ABB with his power as finance minister giving support of favour Khairy, kalimulah ,for lobbying it.when we slowly established influence of Khairy in 4 floor,Scomi Petronas Oversea contracts,ECM shares hike up by insider to double it value on last trading day, with Avenue board of directors forced resigned shares plunged devalue by 1/3 or more to allow ECM Libra took over, are all this a mere coincidence reflex normal practice of good transaction? Or simply facts concluded like how a Snake Swallow A Giant Elephant in ECM – Avenue case.A snake here indeed jack up by size by few players and elephant here shoot dead by insider left the snake swallow with no defend at all.Far cry for avenue investors, is indeed foul play, once again ,a independent commission here -security commission fail to see the hidden practice? Or simply because it boss also under ACA probe lately, how does a commission is really a free independent body assured no one even ABB or Khairy are free to be investigate? That Tun question here .
Tun also hinted the reason why Lingam tape was bought up by commission simply politic based between ABB & Anwar to tarnish Tun, with video to public to raise their opinions,to tell how powerful Tun a dictator above the law.Why this tape not other like mega projects and cronies during Tun time? This also tell act of corruption was more transparent during that time as projects implemented and well took places developing nation although they is a “Look “of interest by certain UMNO related peoples, but it out come does gave a share for many benefited from that development openly. The big different if one see the character version of “ corruption” .Tun let UMNO deal with it but ABB let his family decided on it. That why ABB will never dare to challenge Tun doubt of corruption in UMNO under him. Rather prefer to tarnish Tun in Lingam tape that want a show case commission indirect link to Tun Abbas case as ground evident supported Tun was powerful above law.
But I see Lingam tape was weak case mere politic to link Tun in it,it didn’t tell overall the tape Tun had any influence over judges, more point direct between Lingam act with motif itself to sell his corn job for lobbying chief judge. Politically ABB need to silent Tun and he had no weapon but Lingam tape. What would it be if the commission might seem had put certain “ political biased “finding that say Tun might had damaged the independent system of justice of Malaysia ,to tie Tun down for trial for years, hope to weaken silent Tun from calling ABB step down further. Sad is whatever a commission that put in Lingam tape are doubt it creditability as no single commission like police commission,Security commission are able to run independent without the control or influence of ABB as PM.

Here I agree that the decision of the Royal Commission into the Lingam tapes does sound like a fix up to discredit you; you do have to agree that you were knowingly or unknowingly manipulated by the others in the appointment of the judges.
You are very right on that there are too many questionable projects and expenditure under Mr. Flip-flop and his family's involvment in them cannot be denied.
However, having been there yourself, you realize that no investigations will be carried out nor any inquiries held.
Tun, recently I saw a posting of some bank accounts of your family in some Isreali banks in Singapore.

  155. Decisions made by the goverment of the day are collective agreement of the cabinet. The prime minister alone rarely makes decision. If the prime minister alone makes a decision and announces it to the public, it's common practice that such decision would be ratified by the cabinet in due course.

I believe it is unjust for the prime minister alone to be accountable for any ill-conceived or unpopular goverment decisions.

The cabinet members are jointly and severally liable, unless ones abstain or veto them, and such abstainment and veto must be properly documented during the cabinet meeting.

In the appointment to the key public positions (whether it involves head of goverment agency, judiciary or GLC), the discretionary power of the prime minister is very wide.

It's neither expected nor practical for the prime minister to know explicitly and implictly of all the qualified candidates.

It's nothing wrong for the prime minister to hear from whatever sources before he decides the appointment to the public position. In fact this is the most sensible and practical way of soliciting information about the candidates.

If along the way, someone lobies a particular candidate, either for monetary benefit or otherwise for the ears of the prime minister, I believe the prime minister has not committed any crime, even if he opens wide his ears to it.

The prime minister only commits crime when it could be shown that he, the prime minister himself receives monetary benefit or otherwise in the appointment to the key public position, and worst still if it can be shown that the appointed candidate is tainted or unqualified.

In the appointment to the public positions, it is common practice for candidates themselves to deploy lobbyists or networkings to make the kill, and it is also common to see third parties coming in as proxies to the candidates and they would deploy lobbyists and networkings to make the same kill.

It can be seen the appointment to the public position has become very sophisticated along the line, and the longer the public position remains unfilled, the more sophisticated and taxing the process could become.

And obviously along the line, whether monetary or otherwise have or would be transacted remains anybody's guess. Talking about lobbyists, I guess they must be earning lucratively.

If I'm not mistaken Anwar Ibrahim has alleged that millions(either Ringgit or US Dollar, I would'nt know)were paid to a particular Jewish lobbyist in order for Tun to have an AUDIENCE with Bush the warrior.

As for the members of the bench, who are found to be tainted and corrupted, they must be sent to jail. After sending so many people to jail, it's fair that they too are sent to jail.

I would like to suggest that the goverment provides annual overseas passage, as part of the remuneration to members of the bench so that they would not fall to the tricks of the lobbyists.

Tun orang kampung pun dah tahu Pakla ngan konco2nya memang nak hakis pengaruh Tun dan cuba untuk memburuk-burukkan nama baik Tun, kami orang kampung pun sayang kan Tun, jasa Tun tetap kami akan kenang sehingga ke generasi kami yang akan datang...kebanyakan keputusan, kenyataan, tindakan mereka amat mengelirukan rakyat...saya berasa amat janggal dan pelik masih ada lagi pencacai yang masih menyokong beliau...saya ingat sampai nak tergadai tanah air dan maruah kita baru mereka nak sedar itu pun kalau mereka sedar wallahualam...semoga tun dipanjangkan umur oleh Allah Swt...we luv ya Tun

  157. Dearest Tun M,
Well said Tun! As always I totally agree with you.

But, there's always a possibility that our PM and gang will just ignore all the possibilities of them being possibly corrupt just because they are possibly very busy trying to link you will all possible wrong-doings that you possibly (based on their “possibility theory”) might have committed during your tenure as the PM.

No wonder our country is in chaos because the people running this country have very little faith in themselves. Always playing with possibilities – no direction at all and they are totally lost.

May Allah bless Tun and family. Thanks Tun!

Kenapa masih nak pakai kasut BATA?(Batu Atas Tengkorak Abdullah). Rata2 kami dengar kau orang dah tak main kasut murah?

  161. Dear Tun,

If our current PM is a man of principle, he wouldn't have resorted to dirty tactics in crippling his opponents. What he is doing now will back fire. Is this what Islam Hadhari suppose to promote? I'm surprised the Malays are behaving in a so ungrateful manner. You're definitely right, Melayu Mudah Lupa. Have they forgetten or blind in what you are fighting for all these while? Let's not worry as Allah swt will reveal the truth soon. So, be careful and don't fall into his trap. As you have challenged them to bring you to court, let them proof that they are wrong! We do not have to be over jittery over the Commission issue as it could turn out to your advantage. So, please take care and hope meet you again next Friday. Cheers.

  167. i really wonder with your (Tun) blog, i think the best and popular blog in the world.

there is something wrong in our goverment, i think Pak Lah can't handle his man behind him...org bawahannya lebih berkuasa drpdnya..

kenapa ada UMNO di sabah n sarawak? there is no Malay in sabah..of course they are Islam (our friendly Islam in Sabah) but they are not Malay but Bajau ,Dusun and etc...seperti yang Tun katakan adalah benar,,umno skrg bukan umno lg kerna umno utk org melayu perjuangan melayu..

harap Tun diberkati Tuhan selalu. God bless u always..Reveal the Truth, Tun Mahathir..

  168. I cant resist to comment since I cant stand a very unintelligent comment from KULAAN!..He, in his comment pointed out that TUN retired to fast and he pointed out like Tun retiring was a mistake that should be punished. He then said that now, Anwar is happy that Tun is retired and he this KULAAN pointed out also that Tun is considered as somebody who loses against Anwar because he retire to soon? Like wth? Tun has been in power for 22 years, when he left..Anwar was in prison and just another loser. It was Pak Lah who released Anwar and to my thought is is to generate support from the ppl , so that he will be characterized as being kind and forgiving. It backfired on him since the second Anwar got out, the first thing he did was fight Pak Lah, so dont talk about TUN, this man won against every single opponent that he ever accountered for 22 years and he retired gracefully. He didnt lose to Anwar, its just that Pak Lah is stupid to let him out..

I WOULD LIKE TO PROMOTE THIS LINK TO ALL READERS, A VIDEO CLIP OF TUN TALKING ABOUT MALAYSIA SUCCESS TO ANOTHER FOREIGN COUNTRY, HE TALKED SO LONG WITHOUT READING FROM ANY TEXT..IT HAS 3 PARTS SO PLS WATCH ALL 3 SINCE THE FIRST PART WAS RATHER BORING..2ND AND 3RD PART WAS SIMPLY WOW!

  170. It is not enough to just blast Abdullah. The life support system is very much dependent on some over staying rulers such as Taib Mahmud of Sarawak. How could you let him stay on for so long, yet knowing what he has done for his family business. You must be regretting now.

You should also start to switch off Abdullah life support system in Sarawak. You know well that if those in Sarawak shall collapse, Abdullah will fall. It may be easier to let BN Sarawak fall apart instead of your useless former mates in UMNO.

Families are going to be impacted, out foreign reserves. We got to find ways to keep singaporeans coming without affecting johor, spending holidays here. We have a nation to run, an incompetent PM who made billionaires out of his children with no view to the future. 178. Assalamualikum Dear Yg Amat Bbhg Tun,

Congratulation for sufacing the issue to Malaysians/Malays. I certainly hope the UMNO grass-roots will read-through and awake from their sleep. I dont understand why they don't want to take chances? I know Tun loves UMNO as much as other do but what option do we have other than to let Pakatan Rakyat teaches these people who do not respect (ex) leader.

'Kacang lupa kulit', 'Kadok naik junjung', Si kudung dapat gelang' and more malay proverbs can describe the whole disgusting scenario. It seems that everybody wants to be a hero by giving irritating statements over and over. Off course they try to show colours and gain political mileage in their own way, dont they?

The biggest mistake committed by the government was when they announced the outcomes of the Royal Commission. It should not be announced and any problem with regards to our judiciary shall be resolved silently and let the people see the result more better the stirring the issues up to coffee shop level. People may take it in different perceptions. My be some people might say that our jurisdiction seems to be under a huge corrupt and how we going to face families whom their member might be wrongly accused and sentenced to death?

So Tun, Tun is our hope! Please wake them up!

  179. dear Tun,

  180. Tun

The so-called Parliamentary Comittee for ACA still answer to him for the go ahead.

The so-called Judicial Commission still answer to him for appointment.

His so-called reform thus far is just camouflage to deceive the people.

I bet there are many more.

The problem here lies with Pak Lah own decision and he is decision making ability.

... and Ezam believed Pak Lah is doing reform.

  181. What Royal Commission? It is more like Royal Comedians than Royal Commssion. If Tun is serious about better future for Malaysia (not Malays only), pls spill all out, not just PM. I am sure Tun knows of all the corruptions by many Ministers, Deputy Ministers, MB and EXCO members. Unfortunately despite what Tun said which certain points I agreed, what I am seeing is just power (and ultimately $$$) struggle between 2 parties.

  187. The problem with Pak Lah is that he is not too smart, and worse, he does not read. Of course, he would be too embarassed to ask even simple things, so he seeks help from people who are very close to him. That's where KJ comes in. This young man has exploited his father in law in total, and has enriched himself beyond his wildest dreams.
In the meanwhile, the father in law is almost in a fool's paradise, being feted and praised by people who are out to take advantage of his lack of intellectual capacity to comprehend complicated matters.
Notice how Pak Lah tries to speak off the cuff? He seems to be saying something but upon closer scrutiny, he is saying nothing much.

  190. Justice? Law? Order? from what code? Western-secular defined code? Is it the ultimate justice system?

Ingat PROTOCOLS OF THE LEARNED ELDERS OF ZION... jangan terpedaya dgn agenda mereka utk mengawal dunia dan melemahkan semua kerajaan dunia... ini adalah realiti! Bukan paranoid...

Today, the price of the rice hiked from the usual RM 2.50 to RM 5.00 and it's expected that the petrol will increase by another 30% soon

During the time when Tun was still the Prime Minister, I hardly notices any price hike or even hear my parents complaining about the increase of petrol price but ever since Tok Lah became the PM, everything naik naik naik but salary never naik.
