(VERSI BAHASA MALAYSIA DI AKHIR ARTIKEL INI)
The price of crude oil has increased by 400 percent in the last three years. It follows that the price of products must increase, sooner or later. In other countries petrol prices had already increased. In the United Kingdom one litre of petrol sells for more than one pound sterling or RM7. In the United States it is about RM5.
That the price in neighbouring countries has gone up is shown by the rush to fill up by Thai and to a lesser extent Singapore vehicles.
The Government has now announced an increase in petrol price by 78 sen to RM2.70 per litre, an increase of more than 40 per cent.
I may be mistaken but there seems to be less vehicles on the road today. But obviously that is not all that will happen. All other consumer goods, services and luxury goods would increase in price.
The cost of living must go up. Put another way there will be inflation and the standard of living will go down.
Obviously our increase in petrol price is far less than in the United Kingdom or the United States. But our per capita income is about one-third of theirs. In purchasing power terms our increase is more than in the UK or the US.
The increase hurts but the pain is greater not just because of the increase percentage-wise is higher than in developed countries but because of the manner the increase is made.
A few days ago the Government decided to ban sale of petrol to foreign cars. It flipped. Now foreign cars can buy again. Flopped.
Knowing that in a few days it was going to raise the price and foreigners would be allowed to buy, why cannot the Government just wait instead of banning and unbanning.
But be that as it may what could the Government have done to lessen the burden on the people that results from the increase in petrol price.
In the first place the Government should not have floated the Ringgit. A floating rate creates uncertainties and we cannot gain anything from the strengthened Ringgit. Certainly the people have not experienced any increase in their purchasing power because of the appreciation in the exchange rate between the US Dollar and the Ringgit.
Actually the Ringgit has increased by about 80 sen (from RM3.80 to RM3.08 to 1 US Dollar) per US Dollar, i.e. by more than 20 per cent. Had the Government retained the fixed rate system and increased the value of the Ringgit, say 10 per cent at a time, the cost of imports, in Ringgit terms can be monitored and reduced by 10 per cent. At 20 per cent appreciation the cost of imports should decrease by 20 per cent. But we know the prices of imported goods or services have not decreased at all. This means we are paying 20 per cent higher for our imports including the raw material and components for our industries.
Since oil prices are fixed in US Dollar, the increase in US Dollar prices of oil should also be mitigated by 20 per cent in Malaysian Ringgit.
But the Government wants to please the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank and decided to float the Ringgit. As a result the strengthening of the Ringgit merely increased our cost of exports without giving our people the benefit of lower cost of imports.
This is not wisdom after the event. I had actually told a Government Minister not to float the Ringgit three years ago. But of course I am not an expert, certainly I know little about the international financial regimes.
I believe the people expect the increase of petrol price. But what they are angry about is the quantum and the suddenness. The Prime Minister was hinting at August but suddenly it came two months earlier, just after the ban on sale of petrol to foreigners.
If the increase had been more gradual, the people would not feel it so much. But of course this means that the Government would have to subsidise, though to a decreasing extent.
Can the Government subsidise? I am the “adviser” to Petronas but I know very little about it beyond what is published in its accounts. What I do know may not be very accurate but should be sufficient for me to draw certain conclusions.
Roughly Malaysia produces 650,000 barrels of crude per day. We consume 400,000 barrels leaving 250,000 barrels to be exported.
Three years ago the selling price of crude was about USD30 per barrel. Today it is USD130 – an increase of USD100. There is hardly any increase in the production cost so that the extra USD100 can be considered as pure profit.
Our 250,000 barrels of export should earn us 250,000 x 100 x 365 x 3 = RM27,375,000,000 (twenty seven billion Ringgit).
But Petronas made a profit of well over RM70 billion, all of which belong to the Government.
By all accounts the Government is flushed with money.
But besides petrol the prices of palm oil, rubber and tin have also increased by about 400 per cent. Plantation companies and banks now earn as much as RM3 billion in profits each. Taxes paid by them must have also increased greatly.
I feel sure that maintaining the subsidy and gradually decreasing it would not hurt the Government finances.
In the medium term ways and means must be found to reduce wasteful consumption and increase income. We may not be able to fix the minimum wage at a high level but certainly we can improve the minimum wage.
Actually our wages are high compared to some of our neighbours. The investors who come here are attracted not by cheap labour but by other factors, among which is the attitude of the Government towards the business community and the investors in particular.
From what I hear business friendliness is wanting in the present Government – so much so that even Malaysians are investing in other countries. There are rumblings about political affiliations influencing decisions. Generally Government politicians are said to be arrogant.
Malaysia is short of manpower. The labour intensive industries are not benefiting Malaysians. Foreign workers are remitting huge sums of money home.
The industrial policy must change so that high tech is promoted in order to give Malaysians higher wages to cope with rising costs of living.
The world is facing economic turmoil due to the depreciation of the US Dollar, the sub-prime loan crisis, rising oil and raw material prices, food shortages and the continued activities of the greedy hedge funds. The possibility of a US recession is real. In a way the US is already in recession. The world economy will be dragged down by it.
Malaysia will be affected by all these problems. I wonder whether the Government is prepared for this.
We cannot avoid all the negative effects but there must be ways to mitigate against them and to lessen the burden that must be borne by all Malaysians. I am sure the Government will not just pass all these problems to the people as the review of oil prices every month seem to suggest.

Harga Minyak
Harga minyak mentah naik sebanyak 400 peratus sejak tiga tahun lepas.
US Dollar) satu US Dollar, melebihi 20 peratus.
Saya percaya umum terpaksa menerima kenaikan harga petrol.
Mampukah Kerajaan terus beri subsidi?
Sebenarnya pendapatan kita tinggi berbanding sesetengah jiran kita.
Sebenarnya Amerika Syarikat sedang mengalami kelembapan ekonomi.

«Oldest ‹Older 1401 – 1487 of 1487Salam Tun,
I really disappointed with our current leaders in the Cabinet especially Pak Lah.
Last time hr got mentioned that the citizens being ungrateful for making noise regarding the oil and supplies price increment.
But now,i do feel that we have the right to voice up.As i read these articles i am so eager to pass this through all the nations.
"Government, PM always compare our oil prices with non-oil producing countries such as : For example Singapore : RM 5.00 Thailand : RM 4.00 how about compare Malaysia with the other oil producing countries just as we are UAE– RM1.19/litre Eygpt– RM1.03/litre Bahrain– RM0.87/litre Qatar– RM0.68/litre Kuwait– RM0.67/litre Saudi Arabia– RM0.38/litre Iran– RM0.35/litre Nigeria– RM0.32/litre Turkmenistan– RM0.25/litre Venezuela– RM0.16/litre MALAYSIA– RM2.70/litre Fikir-fikirkan.."
If this is true, then i think most of the people will have the same thought as mine after reading this.
Personally,i felt conned!This(Pak Lah's saying) is all a lie
!Lie!Lie!Lie!
I feel sad to accept that this country isn't functioning well anymore!
Assalamualaikum TUN,
Please HELP US! This is too much...we can't see any further development under PAK LAH.
The slogan "MELAYU MUDAH LUPA" is very suitable to PAK LAH and the KRONI....
We are always with you TUN..
salam...
Kepada yg berbahagia tun...
Keadaan negara kita ni semakin hari semakin bermasalah...kenaikan harga minyak yg tergesa-gesa...memberi impak yg besar kepada rakyat terutama yg berpendapatan rendah..why pak lah tak cari lain altenatif....nak naik minyak pun jgnla secara mendadak....apa yg DIA nampak naik harga minyak...takde keje lain...langsung xde altenatif lain....saya rasa cukai rokok n arak boleh dinaikan...apa yg saya boleh kata kat sini (Inilah Perbezaan Pemerintah Yang Berlatar Belakangkan Pendidikan Sasteraha berbanding Berlatar Belakangkan Pendidikan Sains)
Pada Pendapat saya la kan Tun,saya rasa P,Lah mesti nak gunakan subsidi minyak tu utk bangunkan projek koridor dia tu....klu bangunkan secara senrentak...nagara bley korap ker...Apa yg saya tau..sikit2 menantu dia...(KJ)...
Kawan saya yg berkerja sebagai PTD,dia kata keputusan selalu KJ yg buat....
Apa yg saya bley cakap kat sini Pak lah bukan peminpin yg sesuai utk masa kini dan akan datang...Tun lagi layakla senang citer...Any way...tun please help us kerana Tun lebih arif dan berpengalaman...u are the 1 from 1,000,000,000...herm pak lah tak masuk senarai kot... :-D
Tun ,
We are facing a major economic crisis , the current admnistration is giving an impression that they know what they are doing but the real fact is that most ongoing construction projects are put on hold , most business communities do not know what to do next. We wish that you are still leading us but I still wish that you can still lead. Thanks.
assalamualaikum..
Tun,
Walaupun Tun bukan lagi seorang perdana menteri, namun keprihatinan Tun terhadap permasalahan rakyat nampaknya lebih detail berbanding kerajaan. Thank you so much dear Tun..semoga Tun sihat selalu, insya-ALLAH..:)
Good wishes Tun,
I was very dazed by the facts mentioned by Tun. Actually it is very inequitable to all Malaysians to go through this petrol hike as we are also producing crude oil. Out current government are comparing the prices with neighbouring countries as well as European countries. But, in economy
dollar to dollar must be compared as apple to apple. Not comparing like durian in Malaysia is much cheaper than durian in Japan!! Of course, Japan is not a durian producer. They said that Thai’s are paying RM3.90/liter, however they forgot that Thais are paying less for a new car compare to us.
If I not misguided I do have the Petrol price from oil producing countries.
UAE – RM1.19/litre
Egypt – RM1.03/litre
Bahrain – RM0.87/litre
Qatar – RM0.68/litre
Kuwait – RM0.67/litre
Saudi Arabia – RM0.38/litre
Iran – RM0.35/litre
Nigeria – RM0.32/litre
Turkmenistan – RM0.25/litre
Venezuela – RM0.16/litre
MALAYSIA – RM2.70/litre
Even we are exporting oil, but our petrol price is still far high-priced compare to the other countries. I really hope that present government will take some radical steps to control this state of affairs or else they need to get ready to take the fact that ‘THEY ARE NOT A RAKYAT GOVERNMENT’. Anyway, Tun thank you for a such a astonishing post. Keep it coming.
semalam kerajaan dah umumkan bahawa RAKYAT BELUM DAPAT MENYESUAIKAN DIRI DENGAN HARGA BARU MINYAK (melayu mudah lupa, bukan mudah sesuaikan diri)....
KERAJAAN BERJANJI TIDAK AKAN MENAIKKAN LAGI HARGA MINYAK DALAM TAHUN NI....
oiii......... tahun ni tinggal berapa bulan jer lagi.... ingat rakyat bodoh kaaaaaaa???
salam,
im just a normal citizen but i would like to criticise on e raising oil price. it is known to all of us that petronas produce oils. but little of us know that the oil produced by petronas is grade 1 oils which is used in aircraft. hence, our oil is exported, not used locally. (many of them). so whats the big deal when the world price of oil increase?
gov should not burden the citizen by increasing the price, instead gov should cut down their own allowence to support the increment of price. (as if they want it!huh.) but nooooo.. its a big noooooooo... they increased the price. and burden the citizen. could they not think of other way?
1st they increase the price of rice. but my grandfather, a pesawah. he said no, the price of padi tak naik pun. satu sen pun tak naik. so if e price of rice increase, shouldnt the price of padi increase too? where is the rasionality behind all this? all rice is controlled by bernas. bernas said that e price of padi increased. yet it is all a lie..
then the increment of oil price. are malaysian that stupid? or is that what the goverment thought of us malaysian?

Assalamua'laikum Tun,
I hope that you read my comment. Just to share my concern. Saya salah seorang rakyat Sarawak antra negeri penyumbang kepada pengeluar Minyak Malaysia. Tetapi nasib penduduknya....
If u were me, what will you do , as a citizen of Sarawak..
Assalamualaikum Tun...
Assalamualaikum Dato Sri..

berkorban kerana ketidakcekapan Bapa Kenaikan Harga Barang.
Assalamualaikum TUN,
Sepatuknya kerajaan memberi subsidi menukar penggunaan disel kpd ngv krn lebih murah .68 seliter terutama kpd kenderaan pengangkutan(awam/pengguna),dng ini kos pengangkutan tidak menikat & harga barang pengguna dpt dikawal.
Lebihan minyak dipasaran blh diesport klu kini 250,000 tong mungkin bertambah kpd 350,000 tong, dng ini perdapatan negara bertambah.
Tambahan pendapatan ini blh menjana ekonomi negara.
Tambahan ini juga blh meringankan bebanan rakyat.
Apa pendapat tun ?
Salam Tun & all Rakyat Malaysia,
It's the shock of my life when I shopped at Tesco last night. The Maggie Mee went up to RM3.95 and I still remember clearly that I purchased it at around RM2.50 early this year!
Crazy........ INFLATION already started and God know how serious it will be.
The oil price raising is totally a mess to all people including the government servants. The inflation will kill us eventually. The quality of living is deteriorating every day. RAKYAT HIDUP SENGSARA!!
I can foresee that the unemployment rate will go up very soon because all boses will start to cut cost as the supplies are now getting more and more expensive.
The shock announcement of raising oil price is VERY BAD for the whole industry as the business people do not have time to prepare themselves especially for those who had login the old prices, they are now all MATI DADAK!! More business men will declare bankrupt as their business cannot sustain anymore.
The economy will go into great depression and the impact will be worse than the 1997-98 recession because the past recession did not have the problem of raising oil price and food crisis.
The next recession will be very very BAD compared to the previous one. Escalating prices for necessities will lead to increasing crime rate and unemployment rate.
Somebody please save us, rakyat Malaysia!
Dear Tun, as I read your posts and especially understanding your analytical thoughts on current issues that our country is facing .. how you're able to break down complex-situations into laymen terms for us ...
I can't help but worry here ... you know, there's nobody out there who has the brilliant mind (or remotely close to the same league) like yours who can help us lead us out of this situation ..
And .. I also realised that leading a country as the PM requires so much work and god's gifted talent, and yet, you've have done it for more than 2 decades for us ...
dear Tun, there's really no one out there like you .. I salute you again but i'm also very worry for our country now ...
Salam Tun,
I have very high regards for you since you were the Chairman of FIMA where my late father used to work. When you were Prime minister, you came officiate the factory I was working and I was in charged of security. I also have been in aquaintance with one of your son, Datuk Mokhzani and he is one of the most gentlemanly person I have met. Anyway, what I am trying to say is that, why cant all the high ranking officials in Malaysia be like you and your family? Modest, understanding and helpful. Everytime I travel the PLUS, the Penang Bridge or look outside my office window at the twin towers, I will think of you and why you had to resign and pass the baton to someone that is NOT a real leader? Loyalty is one thing but to lead a nation, one must think above self. Family can come later.
I want you back in Cabinet
Assalamualaikum Tun,
membuang masa mengutuk orang lain.

Mula flip kemudian flop.
Depa pun panik! Depa mengelabah!!
Mereka tergamak menganiaya rakyat Malaysia seluruhnya, demi kepentingan tembolok mereka.
Hi! Tun,
I do wish that u r 30yrs younger & lead us back to the era that all races work towards building the MALAYSIAN IDENTITY..... Since u left, all the values lost in the hand of the current administration.
It's so sad to see UMNO/MCA/MIC/all other BN parties deteriorated & yet these idiots still reluctant to do something abt it.
"Tangisan Air Mata Ku Untuk Tanahair Yg Tercinta Ini..."
Tun, Pls. HELP!!!
why la the price hike :(
Assalamualaikum ayahanda tun,
Saya sentiasa bersama ayahanda tun dari dulu hingga kini bersama2 kita gulingkan rejim lah bodohwi.
Hi Tun,
Below is one of the e-mail from Malaysia Citizen to Mr. PM which forwarded from someone to my mail box. Quite interesting.
Dear Mr. PM,
Thank you Prime Minister for increasing the fuel price because I think tomorrow I had to sell off my car and buy a cheap bicycle.
Lucky for those singles, they can still bring their girlfriend around on a motorbike.
As for me I am married with wife & 3 little children, how can they fit on the bike? I can't bring them jalan-jalan (joyride) anymore.
You and your government were also saying that you will subsidize RM625 per year for the poor like me but I can't imagine how is that going to help.
Let me do my calculation:
RM625 / 12 month = RM52.0833 per month
RM53.0833 / 20 days (working days) = RM2.6542 per day
My conclusion is with RM2.65 per day, I only can get to travel 3km per day which my working place is about 10km away, one way. This excludes me from going to mamak stall (food stall) to buy food for my wife & children which take another 5km to reach.
Thank you very much Mr. PM, I hope you & your government will last sampai anak, cucu & cicit (until son, grandson & great grandson) because I don't think my children will last until their next generation. If my children are lucky, they will go back to the estate and becomes a rubber taper. I hope by that time the rubber trees are still around.
You have given me & the people of Malaysia a good reason of global fuel hike. And I on the behalf of the people of Malaysia thank you for that.
The beautiful 40% increased of fuel price will brings other stuffs like food, vegetable, fish, chicken & etc to increase.
This means my wife and I can start to go on diet now, we used to dream that we can become members of fitness second but now the dreams are getting further.
I am a very positive thinker; I thank you for increasing the fuel price because my three little children will eat less and won't grow up becomes fat like their father.
Mr. PM from the picture of the newspaper, I think you have putting on weight. Please take care of your cholesterol. I don't want you to be like our previous PM which has to go three or four bypass. Lucky for him, he survived.
I also would like to congratulate you for not winning 2/3 majority in the last election. Haven't you and your government learned the lesson from the last election? Why did you lose? What happened to the post mortem?
Now I know what's the reason that ex-PM wants you to step down. Now I know what's the reason the people of Malaysia wants you to step down.
Increase of RM0.78 per liter is a shocked to all of us Malaysian! Luckily tsunami did not hit us like other countries did; or else this will be the second tsunami for us!
Thank you & God bless you!
Yours truly,
Citizen of Malaysia
there's a quote saying that..
"the rich will become richer and the poor will become poorer....(like me..poorest)"..
MY OPINION
Persoalan sekarang
apakah asas perbandingan tersebut sedangkan negara negara tersebut
bukan pengeluar minyak?Hujah seperti inilah yang di gunakan oleh
barisan pemimpin untuk memperbodohkan orang kampung.
Ok, disini fakta yang semua orang kena tahu.Pertama sekali sila lihat
perbandingan harga minyak malaysia dan negara negara pengeluar minyak
yang lain:-
Negara Harga minyak seliter (dalam RM)
Malaysia RM 2.70
Iran RM 0.35
Venezuela RM 0.16
Turkemenistan RM 0.25
Arab Saudi RM 0.38
Kuwait RM 0.67
tong sehari.Menurut kerajaan, pengeluaran minyak kita adalah dalam
lingkungan 700 ribu tong sehari.
Ketika dato seri anwar ibrahim menjawat jawatan menteri kewangan
seliter.Bagaimana beliau boleh mengekalkan harga minyak selama lapan
tahun sedangkan harga minyak dunia naik mendadak ketika perang teluk
So
malaysia seharusnya gembira kerana bila harga minyak dunia naik,
pendapatan petronas jadi berlipat ganda. So apa masalahnya?Walaupun
bila dah net off dari pendapatan export, masih untung besar lagi.
Adakah negara akan bankrupt kalau turunkan harga minyak??
Sudah tentu tidak.Sila lihat statistik di bawah:-
Allocation untuk mega projek:-
Koridor utara : RM17.5 billion
Koridor timur : RM112 billion
Wilayah iskandar :RM47 billion
Koridor sabah :105 billion
Koridor Serawak :107 billion
kenapa nak tampung subsidi 35 billion setahun pun tak mampu?Mana yang
lebih penting?Mana yang perlu di utamakan?Kebajikan rakyat atau projek
mega?
Bila menteri menteri beri komen tentang ekonomi, semuanya berkata yang
bagus bagus, tapi bila bercakap soal subsidi minyak, dah cakap lain
pulak. So kalau Dato Najib kata turunkan harga minyak akan buat negara
melambung naik bakal mencecah 200 billion setahun.
rakyat?
Ni korang compare ngan Turkmenistan .

Salam Tun,
enlightening article, having been a hands on PM and architect of energy policies of past 3 decades , Tun is well qualified to talk on oil price and energy issues, curious why Tun is not commenting exhorbitant profits that TNB and Independent power Producers are making from subsidized natural gas supply, instead of burdening the rakyat with steep and sudden 41-60% increase in fuel prices ,the government should have eliminated fuel subsidy to industries first.
Hi Tun M, hope you are doing well.
Current PM raised oil prices on us many many times. This time it was harsh. The current PM must be like: (screenplay situation)
INT. JABATAN PERDANA MENTERI - DAY
AS THE PM IS SITTING IN HIS OFFICE FACING HIS CURIOUS "YES" MEN.
PM: Okay, lets hike up oil prices bcos i want to teach the msians the meaning of "subsidy", ungrateful bunch of ignorant people they are.
Ministers in his cabinet: Ok Pak lah, watever u feel like doing, as long as you don't point out the aca in our direction and start probing us.
~a week later after price hike to 2.70/L
PM: Ok, now that oil price is at rm2.70/L , help! The msians are protesting in klcc, the hindraf movement is demonstrating against this hike and the pkr are using this hike to my disadvantage. The msians are complaining so much i can't stand the pressure!
Why don't we start cutting down on all the damn taxes from the previous rates before (income, house, vehicle taxes) and show people that i CARE. Be in their good books again. Oh yes, Chief police should also ban all permit application for any gathering!
END
Why not gather and demonstrate? Feeling cold feet about news splattered in overseas news about malaysia again? Why does he care? He prefered US over NAM.
I think from the example above, most people would conclude for the past weeks the events that's been happening are conclusive to in previous times the government is making more money then they should in taxes imposed on its people, that they can afford to subsidies all taxes now just bcos oil price is at its highest, well for the time being.
CASH REBATE?! OH PUHLEEZ! Like its going to keep all of us ( the people) quiet. Salary twice a month?! HE could do better than that! It doesn't solve or minimize the damage.
Like today's news, DPM's non contest to PM's job, it's just a show. He's not even that nice when i met him, well a couple of times, he came to my secret recipe in KLCC.
The govt is probing petronas about its billion dollar profit, so what? petronas did not make the call to raise price of oil. The PM did! It's just he's not getting a cut of the profit.
What's funny is, they even declared that all selangor states have FREE water supply. Who is going to bear the cost of that? Is something missing in the picture? Ok may be selangor is a rich state, but wow... that's a piece of news.
Overall, we are unhappy to pay high price for oil.
Who would?
Pm should have smarter advisors.
Best rgds,
Happy.
p.s.- All i see in the news is talks within the SME's to help entrepreneurs get start up loans, disbursing the funds to bumiputras.... well, i don't see that happening, and even if it happens, PNS will ask for bribe money (undertable money) to disburse the funds.... first it's not PNS money to keep, second, they shouldn't have disbursed it to a non bumiputra.
WHAT IS NEVER MENTIONED IN Mainstream Media like NST/TheStar/ Utusan/BH are these facts....
Malaysian PerCapita Income USD 5000
VS
Singaporean PerCapita Income USD 25000
Further The Star made a comparison of prices in Thailand , Singapore and Indonesia .
For Thailand it is quoted at RM3.90/liter, however are they aware that in Thailand new cars are cheaper than Malaysia by RM10,000? They pay only one life time for their driving license? No renewal fee after that? Also that goes for road tax as well? And do TheStar also aware that you can drive all the way from Hadtyai to Bangkok on a six lane highway without paying any Tolls ??!!
Whereas here in Malaysia you have to pay yearly renewal for road tax , driving license and TOLLS, TOLLS, TOLLS!!!
For Singapore how can you quote RM 5.20 ? Please quote in Singapore Dollars because they are earning in Sing Dollars. You might as well say Europeans are paying RM10/liter. RM5.20/liter = Sing $ 2.20/liter, still cheaper than Malaysia in view of fact that Singapore is not a crude oil exporter. Are you saying that you fill up petrol in Singapore by paying Ringgit?
In economy, dollar to dollar must be compared as apple to apple. Not comparing like durian in M'sia is much cheaper than durian in Japan!! Of course-lah, Japan is not durian producer!!! Comparing Malaysian durian with Thailand durian make more sense!!
For Indonesia we might say is cheaper there at RM2.07/liter but compare that to their level of income!
Now, let us compare the price with OIL PRODUCING countries:
UAE – RM1.19/litre
Eygpt – RM1.03/litre
Bahrain – RM0.87/litre
Qatar – RM0.68/litre
Kuwait – RM0.67/litre
Saudi Arabia – RM0.38/litre
Iran – RM0.35/litre
Nigeria – RM0.32/litre
Turkmenistan – RM0.25/litre
Venezuela – RM0.16/litre
MALAYSIA – RM2.70/litre
RM 2.70!!! Individual perspective:
As of last month a Toyota Vios would 'cause a damage' of about RM 89,000.
In the international market, a Toyota Vios is about USD 19,000
USD 19,000 = RM 62,700 (using the indicative rates of USD 1 = RM 3.30)
That makes Malaysian Vios owners pay an extra RM 26,300.
This RM 26,300 should be cost of operations, profit and tax because the transportation costs have been factored in to the USD 19,000.
RM 26,300/ RM625 petrol rebate per year translates to a Vios being used for 42.08 years.
I do understand that the RM 625 is a rebate given by the government, but it also means that one has to use the Vios for 42.08 years just to make back the amount paid in taxes for the usage of a foreign car. Would anyone use any kind of car for that long?
Now with these numbers in front of us, does the subsidy sound like a subsidy or does it sound like a penalty? This just seems to be a heavy increment in our daily cost of living as we are not only charged with high car taxes but also with a drastic increase in fuel price.
With all the numbers listed out, I urge all Malaysians to join me in analyzing the situation further.
Car taxation is government profit, fuel sales is Petronas' (GLC) profit which also translates into government profit. The government may ridicule us Malaysians by saying look at the world market and fuel price world wide. Please, we are Malaysians, we fought of the British, had a international port in the early centuries (Malacca), home to a racially mixed nation and WE ARE NOT STUPID!!!
We know the international rates are above the USD 130/barrel. We understand the fact that the fuel prices are increasing worldwide and we also know that major scientist are still contradicting on why this phenomenon is happening. Some blame Bush and his plunders around the world and some blame climate change and there are others which say petroleum 'wells' are getting scarce.
Again we go back to numbers to be more straight fwd
1 barrel = 159 liters x RM2.70/liter = RM 429 or USD 134
On 1 hand, we are paying the full cost of 1 barrel of crude oil with RM2.70 per liter but on the other hand the crude oil only produces 46% of fuel.
Msia sells crude oil per barrel at USD130 buys back Fuel per barrel at USD134. And not forgetting, every barrel of fuel is produced with 2 barrels of crude oil.
1 barrel crude oil = produce 46% fuel (or half of crude oil), therefore
2 barrel crude oil = approximately 1 barrel fuel
In other words, each time we sell 2 barrels of crude oil, equivalently we will buy back 1 barrel of fuel.
Financially,
Malaysia sell 2 barrel crude oil @ USD 130/barrel = USD 260 = RM 858
then, Malaysia will buy back fuel @ USD 134/barrel = RM 442/barrel
Thus, Malaysia earn net extra USD 126 = RM 416 for each 2 barrel of crude sold/exported vs imported 1 barrel of fuel !!!
(USD 260-134 = USD 126 = RM416)
So where this extra USD 126/barrel income is channeled to by Malaysian Govt???????? ?
Another analysis:
1 barrel crude oil = 159 liters.
46-47% of a barrel of crude oil = fuel that we use in our vehicles.
46% of 159 = 73.14 liters.
@ RM 2.70/liter x 73.14 liter = RM197.48 of fuel per barrel of crude oil. This is only 46% of the barrel, mind you. Using RM 3.30 = USD 1, we get that a barrel of crude oil produces USD 59.84 worth of petrol fuel (46% of 1barrel).
USD 59.84 of USD 130/barrel turns out to be 46% of a barrel as well.
Another 54% = bitumen, kerosene, and natural gases and so many more.
And this makes a balance of USD 70.16 that has not been accounted for.
So this is where I got curious. Where is the subsidy if we are paying 46% of the price of a barrel of crude oil when the production of petrol/barrel of crude oil is still only 46%?
In actual fact, we still pay for this as they are charged in the forms of fuel surcharge by airlines and road taxes for the building of road (because they use the tar/bitumen) and many more excuse charging us but let us just leave all that out of our calculations.
As far as I know, only the politicians who live in Putrajaya and come for their Parliament meetings in Kuala Lumpur (approximately 60+ km) are the ones to gain as they claim their fuel and toll charges from the money of the RAKYAT's TAX.
It is so disappointing to see this happen time and time again to the Malaysian public, where they are deceived by the propaganda held by the politicians and the controls they have over the press.
Which stupid idiot economist equates rebates for rich or poor with the cc of the vehicles? An average office clerk may own a second hand 1300cc proton Iswara costing $7,000 (rebate = $625) while the Datuk's children can own a fleet of 10 new cars of BMW, Audi and Volvo all less than 2000cc costing $2 millions and get a total rebate of $625 x 10 = $6,250! Wow what kind of economists we are keeping in Malaysia...wonder which phD certificate that they bought from...
Misleading concept of Subsidy:
The word "subsidy" has been brandished by the BN government as if it has so generously helped the rakyat and in doing so incurred losses. This simple example will help to explain the fallacy:
Example:
Ahmad is a fisherman. He sells a fish to you at $10 which is below the market value of $15. Let's assume that he caught the fish from the abundance of the sea at little or no cost. Ahmad claims that since the market value of the fish is $15 and he sold you the fish for $10, he had subsidised you $5 and therefore made a loss of $5.
Question : Did Ahmad actually make a profit of $10 or loss of $5 which he claimed is the subsidy?
Answer:
Ahmad makes a profit of $10 which is the difference of the selling price ($10) minus the cost price ($0 since the fish was caught from the abundance of the sea). There is no subsidy as claimed by Ahmad.
The BN government claims that it is a subsidy because the oil is kept and treated as somebody else's property (you know who). By right, the oil belongs to all citizens of the country and the government is a trustee for the citizens. So as in the above simple example, the BN government cannot claim that it has subsidised the citizen!
i love u TUN!!
Terima Kasih UMNO kerana naikan harga minyak!!!!!!!!!!!!!
cuba pak lah rasa hidup dengan gaji rm 1500 sebulan, anak 4 bersekolah!!!!!!!! apakah yg dia akan rasa..........Pak Lah memang pengkhianat rakyat.....membebankan kami semua
TERIMA KASIH UMNO........
As'kum Dr Mahathir Mohamad,
Berikut saya copy & paste kiriman email beliau:
Subject: FW: Boikot Petronaaaaaaaaaaaaassssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Brengsek!
NIE SATU LAGI CITER PANAS!
Kena tukar minyak sawit nmpk nye!
I dah lama tau dah. That's why I tak guna minyak petronas
Wahai warga Malaysia sekelian.... .hebahkanlah cerita benar ini kpd rakan2 anda sekelian mengapa perlu boikot minyak petronas.... . Sebenarnya semua warga malaysia kena tipu dengan dasar kenaikan harga minyak ni..baru2 ni kenaikan harga minyak sebanyak RM0.78.Tinggi tuuuuu.Mengapa kita perlu menaikkan harga minyak setinggi tuuuuuuu....

"Agama bukan mengkhayalkan orang miskin
Kemudian Allah memberikan kurniaan kepadamu lalu diangkat engkau menjadi seorang raja.
Tanggungjawab
Kenaikan harga minyak menaikkan harga barang. Orang berpendapatan rendah menjadi mangsa.

You have proven a very good point that only you would know as an adviser to Petronas
Tun,
Qatar pun follow Tun nye cara. Qatar pegg Riyal vs USD
Qatar has recorded the highest inflation rates in the oilـrich Gulf region over the past three years mainly because of a sharp rise in food prices, soaring rents and a surge in projects caused by a sustained economic boom. Runaway materials costs and shortages are putting pressure on Qatar''s construction sector, threatening budget projections and raising the possibility of late delivery on some projects. With the Qatari riyal pegged to the U.S. dollar and falling strength of the US dollar against the euro has resulted in an increase in the price for imported building materials. We believe Qatar needs to proactively address all these to help its real economy to grow at good pace.

Subject: Table count your new petrol price Rebate
WHAT IS NEVER MENTIONED IN Mainstream Media like NST/TheStar/ Utusan/BH are these facts....
Malaysian PerCapita Income USD 5000
VS
Singaporean PerCapita Income USD 25000
Further The Star made a comparison of prices in Thailand , Singapore and Indonesia ..
For Thailand it is quoted at RM3.90/liter, however are they aware that in Thailand new cars are cheaper than Malaysia by RM10,000? They pay only one life time for their driving license? UAE – RM1.19/litre

Bahrain – RM0.87/litre

Kuwait – RM0.67/litre

As far as I know, only the politicians who live in Putra jaya and come for their Parliament meetings in Kuala Lumpur (approximately 60+ km) are the ones to gain as they claim their fuel and toll charges from the money of the RAKYAT's TAX.
Wow what kind of economists we are keeping in Malaysia ...wonder which phD certificate that they bought from...
Tun Yang Dikasihi, semoga sentiasa sihat dan dilimpahi rahmat olehNya.

Can a family man with Salary RM3,000 survive in Malaysia
Let's do some simple calculations here.
In Malaysia, the average family income is RM3,000 /month (where father works, mother doesn't).
I understand there are many families whose monthly income does not reach RM3,000,but, to make things simple, let's take RM3,000 as the figure. Ok lah, right?
Okay, let's start rolling with a family which has Papa, Mama, 1 daughter and 1 son. Ngam-ngam ....
Calculation starts...
Electricity and water bill: RM100
No air-con, No home theatre, No water heater ... ok?)
Phone bill ( Telekom): RM100
Meals for a happy family: RM775
(3 meals on RM25/day, RM25 for 4 persons...?)
Papa makan / teh-tarik during working hrs: RM155
(RM5/day, RM5 ... can eat what?)
Car repayment: RM400
(A proton saga aeroback, 7 yrs repayment)
Petrol (living in city, traffic-jam) : RM300
(go to work, bring son to school,
only can afford one car running)
Insurance: RM650
(kids, wife and myself)
House repayment: RM750
(low cost housing repayment for 30 yrs, retired still have to work to pay!)
Tuition: RM80
got that cheap meh? i don't think so)
Older children pocket money @ school: RM20
RM1/day, eat bread?)
School fees: RM30
(enough ah?)
School books and etc: RM100
(always got extra to pay in school)
Younger children milk powder: RM50
(cannot have the DHA, BHA, PHA one, expensive)
Miscellaneous: RM100
(shampoo, rice, sauce, toilet paper)
Oh wait!!! I have to stop here, so...
No Astro,
no movie @ cinema,
no DVD,
no CD,
no online,
cannot KFC,
cannot McDonald,
cannot go Park walk during weekend (petrol expensive),
no chit chat on phone with grandparents, and etc...
Let's use a calculator to total up... WALAO EH! Shit!
RM3,610 already...
EPF belum potong, income tax lagi........ oledi RM3,610 ....
How to survive lah tuan-tuan dan puan-puan sekalian ???
Our Deputy Prime Minister asked us to change lifestyle?
How to change? Don't eat? Don't work? Don't send children to school and study?
Besides that, I believe in Malaysia population, there are millions of rakyat Malaysia which still don't earn RM3,000/month! !!
What is this? Inilah Malaysia Boleh... Sorry ... it should be Malaysians Boleh , because we're still alive and kicking!!
Our politicians must be mad!!!!
No wonder so many Ah Loong around lah....
Renung-renungkan lah……But Ah Loong is not a good solution for your financial problem…he he he.
salam Tun....
apa dah jadi dgn negara kita sekarang.... semua kos meningkat....
sepatutnya kerajaan membela nasib rakyat...tp sekarang sudah terbalik kerajaan memerah memijak rakyat..... APA DAH JADI NIE....
kenapalah paklah takda perancangan langsung.............WAKe UP......MALAYSIAN.....
Salam Tun,
~ 70 billion Malaysia (petronas) pocketed the government. Then this must be a joke for raising oil price. Y a joke, think about this. Old days, kampung people have their own mata air well at the backyard of their houses, then they have to pay to drink it? at the same time making money from selling the water to others. Like us, we are producing + selling and making billions in profit but yet price is pledging to market? we should have lowest, because we are making profit not LOST.. hello!!! Are we using funds correctly. For mega project.. mmm..? dont think so. We owned the oil price not following it
Mari kita ramai ramai naik basikal, utk mengurangkan penggunaan minyak...
Nazri
Namun berbeza jadinya bila masing-masing hidup semacam rakyat.
Contohnya:
"Tracking the system: Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Shahrir Samad arriving at the Express Rail Link station in Putrajaya yesterday, the second day he was trying public transport from his home in Jalan Tunku in Kuala Lumpur to his office in Putrajaya. His verdict after two days? “It’s not so convenient since there is no bus connection from my house to KL Sentral to take the ERL to Putrajaya. My wife has to send me to KL Sentral and my driver picks me up in Putrajaya. He will be bringing the matter up in the Cabinet today. Shahrir is a frequent user of ERL to KLIA.

tolong ye...sesapa ade maklumat camni....
Salam Tun....jaga diri
Salam Tun,
Please tell us that you regret of handing the power to our current PM... so we can share your sadness as well...
So sad that Malaysia is currently lead by a man that has no vision....
kalau tiap bulan harga petrol naik, alamatnya PRU akan datang, Pak lah akan dibinasakan habis-habisan....
Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, I have always enjoyed surfing the internet.
If you have noticed I am always spending precious moments here at your blog, sensing what boom you are sounding here.
Else where and here too there have been a network of friendships especially individuals sharing common interest.
Earlier, I read about Email growth dissemination.
Some leaders may feel that this is not an effective move, because they still control the media.
But, email can grow and expand so fast, the ones being hurt can revert the pain to those causing it in the first place.
Please read this, and do tell me, am I saying what is actually happening within this bloggosphere.
*Petronas urges public not to join e-mail campaign
KUALA LUMPUR: Petronas has urged the public not to join an e-mail campaign to boycott its products because it will not affect fuel prices.
Its president and chief executive officer Tan Sri Mohd Hassan Marican said Petronas was not the largest retailer of fuel in the country as it only has about 800 stations nationwide.
“Any form of boycott will only hurt the station owners, the small and medium-seized enterprises that supply the stations with their products and the shareholders of Petronas Dagangan – many of whom are pensioners,” he said in an interview.*
True, but a part of this society or e-community, they are good citizen who will do no such thing, until when each is being hurt with the sudden and drastic increase of the price of petrol and diesel recently.
Assalamu'alaikum..
Dearest Tun,
soalan pertama, kenapa Tun bersara in the first place? Ever since Tun bersara, Malaysia dalam keadaan teruk sekali.
Wassalam
Salam Tun,
Terima kasih Pak Lah!!!
Assalamualaikum & Good Day to All,
PETRONAS' STAFF SALARY & BONUS
1) The salaries paid to PETRONAS' employees are not as high as people think. At best, they are just industry average. And these are not attractive enough for some who left PETRONAS to find work at other companies (mainly from the Middle East) which are willing to pay more. Why do they pay more? The oil and gas industry worldwide has been facing acute shortage of qualified or experienced personnel, so most companies are willing to pay lots of money to entice and pinch staff from their competitors.
Bonus? There has NEVER been a bonus amounting to 6 months or 12 months throughout the 33 years. On average, it is 2 months. But don't ever think we don't deserve it. We more than deserve it. A lot of us work really hard, some in the most extreme of conditions. Those who have been to and worked in northern Sudan, for example, would testify that it's like working in a huge blower oven. Southern Sudan, on the other hand, is almost all swamps and mud. Imagine having to go through that kind of heat, or waddling in muddy swamps, day in and day out.
QUALITY OF CRUDE & REFINED PRODUCTS
2) Malaysia produces about 600,000 barrels of crude oil per day (and about 100,000 barrels condensate). Of this crude volume, 339,000 barrels are refined locally for local consumption. The rest is exported (and yes, because it has lower sulphur content it fetches higher prices).
Malaysia also imports about 230,000 barrels of crude oil per day, mainly from the Middle East, to be refined here. This crude oil contains higher sulphur and is less expensive (so the country gains more by exporting our crudes). In Malaysia, this crude is processed by PETRONAS at its second refinery in Melaka, and also by Shell at its Port Dickson refinery.
Different refineries are built and configurated to refine different types of crude. And each crude type yields different percentage of products (diesel, gasoline, kerosene, cooking gas etc) per barrel.
But most importantly, products that come out at the end of the refining process have the same good quality regardless of the crude types. That's why PETRONAS, Shell and Exxon Mobil share the same pipeline to transport the finished products from their refineries to a distribution centre in the Klang Valley. The three companies collect the products at this centre accordingly to be distributed to their respective distribution networks. What makes PETRONAS' petrol different from Shell's, for example, is the additive that each company adds.
PETRONAS' ROLE, FUNCTION & CONTRIBUTION
3) A lot of people also do not understand the role and function of PETRONAS, which is essentially a company, a business entity, which operates on a commercial manner, to mainly generate income and value for its shareholder. In this case, PETRONAS' shareholder is the Government.
In 1974, when PETRONAS was set up, the Government gave PETRONAS RM10 million (peanuts, right?) as seed capital. From 1974 to 2007, PETRONAS made RM570 billion in accumulated profits, and returned to the Government a total of RM335.7 billion. That is about 65% of the profits. That means for every RM1 that PETRONAS makes, 65 sen goes back to the Government.
Last year, PETRONAS made a pre-tax profit of RM86.8 billion. The amount given back to the Government (in royalty, dividends, corporate income tax, petroleum products income tax and export duty) was RM52.3 billion. The rest of the profit was used to pay off minority interests and taxes in foreign countries (about RM7.8 billion - PETRONAS now operates in more than 30 countries), and the remaining RM26.7 billion was reinvested. The amount reinvested seems a lot, but the oil and gas industry is technology- and capital-intensive. Costs have gone up exponentially in the last couple of years. Previously, to drill a well, it cost about US$3 million; now it costs US$7 million. The use of rigs was US$200,000 a day a couple of years ago; now it costs US$600,000 a day.
A lot of people also do not realise that the amount returned by PETRONAS to the Government makes up 35% of the Government's total annual income, to be used by the Government for expenditures, development, operations, and yes, for the various subsidies. That means for every RM1 the Government makes, 35 sen is contributed by PETRONAS.
So, instead of asking what happens to PETRIONAS' money or profits, people should be questioning how the money paid by PETRONAS to the Government is allocated.
CRUDE EXPORTS & FUEL PRICES
4) A lot of people also ask, why Malaysia exports its crude oil. Shouldn't we just stop exporting and sell at cheaper prices to local refiners? If Malaysia is an oil exporting country, why can't we sell petrol or diesel at cheaper prices like other oil producing countries in the Middle East?
I guess I don't have to answer the first couple of questions. It's simple economics, and crude oil is a global commodity.
Why can't we sell petrol and diesel at lower prices like in the Middle East? Well, comparing Saudi Arabia and other big producers to Malaysia is like comparing kurma to durian, because these Middle Eastern countries have much, much, much bigger oil and gas reserves.
Malaysia has only 5.4 billion barrels of oil reserves, and about 89 trillion cubic feet of gas. Compare that to Saudi Arabia's 260 billion barrels of oil and 240 trillion cubic feet of gas.
Malaysia only produces 600,000 barrels per day of oil. Saudi Arabia produces 9 million barrels per day. At this rate, Saudi Arabia's crude oil sales revenue could amount to US$1.2 billion per day! At this rate, it can practically afford almost everything -- free education, healthcare, etc, and subsidies -- for its people.
But if we look at these countries closely, they have in the past few years started to come up with policies and strategies designed to prolong their reserves and diversify their income bases. In this sense, Malaysia (and PETRONAS) has had a good head start, as we have been doing this a long time.
Fuel prices in Malaysia is controlled by the Government based on a formula under the Automatic Pricing Mechanism introduced more than a couple of decades ago. It is under this mechanism that the complex calculation of prices is made, based on the actual cost of petrol or diesel, the operating costs, margin for dealers, margin for retail oil companies (including PETRONAS Dagangan Bhd) and the balancing number of duty or subsidy. No retail oil companies or dealers actually make money from the hike of the fuel prices. Oil companies pay for the products at market prices, but have to sell low, so the Government reimburses the difference -- thus subsidy.
Subsidy as a concept is OK as long as it benefits the really deserving segment of the population. But there has to be a limit to how much and how long the Government should bear and sustain subsidy. An environment where prices are kept artificially low indefinitely will not do anyone any good. That's why countries like Indonesia are more pro-active in removing subsidies. Even Vietnam (which is a socialist country, by the way) is selling fuel at market prices.
PETRONAS & TRANSPARENCY
5) I feel I also need to say something on the allegation that PETRONAS is not transparent in terms of its accounts, business transactions etc.
PETRONAS is first and foremost a company, operating under the rules and regulations of the authorities including the Registrar of Companies, and the Securities Commission and Bursa Malaysia for its listed four subsidiaries (PETRONAS Dagangan Bhd, PETRONAS Gas Bhd, MISC Bhd and KLCC Property Holdings Bhd.
PETRONAS the holding company produces annual reports which are made to whomever wants them, and are distributed to many parties and places; including to the library at the Parliament House for perusal and reading pleasure of all Yang Berhormat MPs (if they care to read). PETRONAS also makes the annual report available on its website, for those who bother to look. The accounts are duly audited.
The website also contains a lot of useful information, if people really care to find out. Although PETRONAS is not listed on Bursa Malaysia, for all intents and purposes, it could be considered a listed entity as its bonds and financial papers are traded overseas. This requires scrutiny from investors, and from rating agencies such as Standard & Poor and Moody's.
BOYCOTT PETRONAS?
6) The last time I checked, this is still a democratic country, where people are free to spend their money wherever they like.
For those who like to see more of the money that they spend go back to the local economy and benefiting their fellow Malaysians, perhaps they should consider sticking to local products or companies.
For those who like to see that the money they spend go back to foreign shareholders of the foreign companies overseas, they should continue buying foreign products.
FINAL WORD (FOR TODAY)
I'm sorry this is rather long, but I just have to convey it. I hope this would help some of you out there understand something. The oil and gas industry, apart from being very capital intensive, is also very complex and volatile. I'm learning new things almost every single day.
citrus_medica,
Thank you for the explanation.

Assalamu'alaikum..
Dearest Tun..
Aslmkm Tun,
Talking about OIL, I came across the following article in the Washington Post online, regarding the nomination of Paul Wolfowitz (Anwar's good friend) as World Bank President in 2005 ...quote-unquote..
"Statements from private environmental and aid organizations were largely hostile. The environmental group Greenpeace called it "a disaster to put the World Bank, which should be delivering sustainable development, into the hands of a man who clearly will put U.S. and oil industry interests first."
"ActionAid, a British- and South African-based aid organization, called the nomination "an unwelcome step." Referring to the selection system, Patrick Watt, a policy officer with the group, said in a statement that the announcement "speaks volumes for the need to reform a process which is neither transparent nor based on merit. . . . As well as lacking any relevant experience, he is a deeply divisive figure who is unlikely to move the Bank towards a more pro-poor agenda." ---unquote
The recent surge of 'verbal' attack on Petronas even though Petronas clearly does not decide oil prices, may be a long-term strategy by certain groups to eventually take over the OIL GIANT from the current management (which I say,had made the country proud) in a slightly different approach from the military-takeover of oil-rich Iraq and Afghan....but same vision and mission, I might add.

Assalamualaikum Tun,
Kita adalah negara pengeluar minyak, Petronas adalah top 100 The richest company in the world. sekarang ni dah jadi macam perumpamaan "Org kampung bela ayam, sanggup jual telur ayam tuk beli ikan kering bagi anak anak makan.. sbb telur ayam lebih mahal." renungkan..
Tapi impaknya seluruh rakyat malaysia menderita.
Bayangkan seorang CEO company punayi 4 org anak, beliau mengunakan BMW sebiji and Mercides sebiji. Kemuadia kesemua anak nya dia belikan Myvy ( so ada 4 kereta bawah 2000cc)Patutkah dia mendapat subsidi tuk ke empat2 kereta tersebut? kalau dibandingkan denagn seorang petani ada 4 org anak dan punya sebuah kancil sahaja?? bagai man pulak bagi yang kaya punyai RX8(Mazda) atau pun Mini Couper? RX8 cuma 1.5cc and mini cooper cuma 1.3cc?? jadi keduaa buah kendderaan ini layak tuk dapat subsidi walaupun harga kenderaan itu mengjangkau ratusan ribu ringgit..?? Apa komen TUN??
DEAR TUN YANG SAYA SAYANGI,
SAYA ADA SATU IDEA UNTUK MEMBANTU EKONOMI NEGARA SECARA MAKRO...
GDP= INVESTMENT+ GOVERNMENT SPENDING+ CONSUMPTION
APA KATA KITA TINGKATKAN FREQUENCY DUIT BERTUKAR TANGAN YAKNI 'VELOCITY' WANG DIDALAM NEGARA.BUKAN DENGAN 'CONSUMPTION' PEMPBELIAN BARANG2,TETAPI DENGAN PERTUBUHAN AMAL SEPERTI MERCY ATAU AIDS FOUNDATION ATAU MESJID2 SE MALAYSIA MENGUMPULKAN DANA DAN MEMBELANJAKAN NYA PADA PROJEK2 SEDEKAH.
CONTOH NYA NGO2 INI MEMBELI BERAS ATAU MEMBAIKI RUMAH2 ORANG MISKIN DAN SEBAGAINYA...
INI AKAN MEWUJUDKAN PUTARAN WANG DALAM NEGARA ATAU 'MONEY SPINNER' YANG AKAN MENAIKKAN KELAJUAN DUIT BERTUKAR TANGAN...CUMA BEZANYA IA AKAN PERGI KEPADA ORANG2 YANG SUSAH.
SUSULAN DARI INI DIHARAPKAN SYARIKAT2 YANG MENDAPAT KEUNTUNGAN AKAN MELABUR MEMBESARKAN PERNIAGAAN MEREKA DAN DIHARAP KAN
LAMBAKAN PELABURAN - AKAN MENINGKATKAN PRODUCTIVITY - DAN AKAN MENURUNKAN HARGA.
THIS CAN WORK FOR COMMODITY LIKE BERAS DAN SEBAGAINYA.
CREATE AN OVERSUPPLY OF MAKANAN ASAS AND HOPEFULLY BOLEH MENURUNKAN HARGA.
MUNGKIN TUN BOLEH CONTACT NGO2 INI..
KITA BOLEH CUBA TRY!
REGARDS,
AZUWAR.
Salam Tun,
"TERIMA KASIH PAK LAH KERANA MENAIKAN HARGA MINYAK SEKALIGUS MENYUSAHKAN HIDUP RAKYAT"
PAK LAH SUDAH BOLEH BELAH!
Love u Tun and will support u forever..
Salam Tun, semoga TUN dirahmati ALLAH selalu.
Apa kata kita guna AIR (HHO) ganti emas hitam ini....apa komen TUN?
Tq.
salam sejahtera Tun,...
Semuga allah panjangkan usia Tun.
After read your blog and with below e-mail received, indeed it is frustating and disappointed with the current government decision.
Malaysian PerCapita Income USD 5000
VS
Singaporean PerCapita Income USD 25000
Further The Star made a comparison of prices in Thailand , Singapore and
Indonesia .
For Thailand it is quoted at RM3.90/liter, however are they aware that in
Thailand new cars are cheaper than Malaysia by RM10,000? They pay only one
life time for their driving license? No renewal fee after that? Also that
goes for road tax as well? And do TheStar also aware that you can drive all
the way from Hadtyai to Bangkok on a six lane highway without paying any
Tolls ??!!
Whereas here in Malaysia you have to pay yearly renewal for road tax ,
driving license and TOLLS, TOLLS, TOLLS!!!
For Singapore how can you quote RM 5.20 ? Please quote in Singapore Dollars
because they are earning in Sing Dollars. You might as well say Europeans
are paying RM10/liter. RM5.20/liter = Sing $ 2.20/liter, still cheaper than
Malaysia in view of fact that Singapore is not a crude oil exporter. Are
you saying that you fill up petrol in Singapore by paying Ringgit?
In economy, dollar to dollar must be compared as apple to apple. Not
comparing like durian in M'sia is much cheaper than durian in Japan!! Of
course-lah, Japan is not durian producer!!! Comparing Malaysian durian with
Thailand durian make more sense!!
For Indonesia we might say is cheaper there at RM2.07/liter but compare
that to their level of income!
Now, let us compare the price with OIL PRODUCING countries:
UAE - RM1.19/litre
Eygpt - RM1.03/litre
Bahrain - RM0.87/litre
Qatar - RM0.68/litre
Kuwait - RM0.67/litre
Saudi Arabia - RM0.38/litre
Iran - RM0.35/litre
Nigeria - RM0.32/litre
Turkmenistan - RM0.25/litre
Venezuela - RM0.16/litre
MALAYSIA - RM2.70/litre
RM 2.70!!! Individual perspective:
As of last month a Toyota Vios would 'cause a damage' of about RM
89,000.
In the international market, a Toyota Vios is about USD 19,000
USD 19,000 = RM 62,700 (using the indicative rates of USD 1 = RM 3.30)
That makes Malaysian Vios owners pay an extra RM 26,300.
This RM 26,300 should be cost of operations, profit and tax because the
transportation costs have been factored in to the USD 19,000.
RM 26,300/ RM625 petrol rebate per year translates to a Vios being used for
42.08 years.
I do understand that the RM 625 is a rebate given by the government, but it
also means that one has to use the Vios for 42.08 years just to make back
the amount paid in taxes for the usage of a foreign car. Would anyone use
any kind of car for that long?
Now with these numbers in front of us, does the subsidy sound like a
subsidy or does it sound like a penalty? This just seems to be a heavy
increment in our daily cost of living as we are not only charged with high
car taxes but also with a drastic increase in fuel price.
With all the numbers listed out, I urge all Malaysians to join me in
analyzing the situation further.
Car taxation is government profit, fuel sales is Petronas' (GLC) profit
which also translates into government profit. The government may ridicule
us Malaysians by saying look at the world market and fuel price world wide.
Please, we are Malaysians, we fought of the British, had a international
port in the early centuries (Malacca), home to a racially mixed nation and
WE ARE NOT STUPID!!!
We know the international rates are above the USD 130/barrel. We understand
the fact that the fuel prices are increasing worldwide and we also know
that major scientist are still contradicting on why this phenomenon is
happening. Some blame Bush and his plunders around the world and some blame
climate change and there are others which say petroleum 'wells' are
getting
scarce.
Again we go back to numbers to be more straight fwd
1 barrel = 159 liters x RM2.70/liter = RM 429 or USD 134
On 1 hand, we are paying the full cost of 1 barrel of crude oil with RM2.70
per liter but on the other hand the crude oil only produces 46% of fuel.
Msia sells crude oil per barrel at USD130 buys back Fuel per barrel at
USD134. And not forgetting, every barrel of fuel is produced with 2 barrels
of crude oil.
1 barrel crude oil = produce 46% fuel (or half of crude oil), therefore
2 barrel crude oil = approximately 1 barrel fuel
In other words, each time we sell 2 barrels of crude oil, equivalently we
will buy back 1 barrel of fuel.
Financially,
Malaysia sell 2 barrel crude oil @ USD 130/barrel = USD 260 = RM 858
then, Malaysia will buy back fuel @ USD 134/barrel = RM 442/barrel
Thus, Malaysia earn net extra USD 126 = RM 416 for each 2 barrel of crude
sold/exported vs imported 1 barrel of fuel !!!
(USD 260-134 = USD 126 = RM416)
So where this extra USD 126/barrel income is channeled to by Malaysian
Govt?????????
Another analysis:
1 barrel crude oil = 159 liters.
46-47% of a barrel of crude oil = fuel that we use in our vehicles.
46% of 159 = 73.14 liters.
@ RM 2.70/liter x 73.14 liter = RM197.48 of fuel per barrel of crude oil.
This is only 46% of the barrel, mind you. Using RM 3.30 = USD 1, we get
that a barrel of crude oil produces USD 59.84 worth of petrol fuel (46% of
1barrel).
USD 59.84 of USD 130/barrel turns out to be 46% of a barrel as well.
Another 54% = bitumen, kerosene, and natural gases and so many more.
And this makes a balance of USD 70.16 that has not been accounted for.
So this is where I got curious. Where is the subsidy if we are paying 46%
of the price of a barrel of crude oil when the production of petrol/barrel
of crude oil is still only 46%?
In actual fact, we still pay for this as they are charged in the forms of
fuel surcharge by airlines and road taxes for the building of road (because
they use the tar/bitumen) and many more excuse charging us but let us just
leave all that out of our calculations.
As far as I know, only the politicians who live in Putrajaya and come for
their Parliament meetings in Kuala Lumpur (approximately 60+ km) are the
ones to gain as they claim their fuel and toll charges from the money of
the RAKYAT's TAX.
It is so disappointing to see this happen time and time again to the
Malaysian public, where they are deceived by the propaganda held by the
politicians and the controls they have over the press.
Which stupid idiot economist equates rebates for rich or poor with the cc
of the vehicles? An average office clerk may own a second hand 1300cc
proton Iswara costing $7,000 (rebate = $625) while the Datuk's children can
own a fleet of 10 new cars of BMW, Audi and Volvo all less than 2000cc
costing $2 millions and get a total rebate of $625 x 10 = $6,250! Wow what
kind of economists we are keeping in Malaysia...wonder which phD
certificate that they bought from...
Misleading concept of Subsidy:
The word "subsidy" has been brandished by the BN government as if it
has so
generously helped the rakyat and in doing so incurred losses. This simple
example will help to explain the fallacy:
Example:
Ahmad is a fisherman. He sells a fish to you at $10 which is below the
market value of $15. Let's assume that he caught the fish from the
abundance of the sea at little or no cost. Ahmad claims that since the
market value of the fish is $15 and he sold you the fish for $10, he had
subsidised you $5 and therefore made a loss of $5.
Question : Did Ahmad actually make a profit of $10 or loss of $5 which he
claimed is the subsidy?
Answer:
Ahmad makes a profit of $10 which is the difference of the selling price
($10) minus the cost price ($0 since the fish was caught from the abundance
of the sea). There is no subsidy as claimed by Ahmad.
The BN government claims that it is a subsidy because the oil is kept and
treated as somebody else's property (you know who). By right, the oil
belongs to all citizens of the country and the government is a trustee for
the citizens. So as in the above simple example, the BN government cannot
claim that it has subsidised the citizen!
Tun;
Glad to be able to found your website!
I always believed not to trust anyone who talk about the truth about our oil revenue and how to manage it for the benefits of Malaysian.
Since I always believed that you are a great leader for Malaysia as i always like to hear your speeches on TV because it always make sense.
You can always find solutions for the people of Malaysia that really make me proud of you leading Malaysia.
Of course I do hope there will be more leader like you in Malaysia because life should go on and you will not always be here with Malaysian forever.
So please keep up on your comment on good governing until your last breaths so that one may learn from your experience and who's know one may become PM of Malaysia in the future that posses your quality and views.
Let the Malaysian learns what you got so to benefits the Malaysian Future generation. Your moral and attitude to care peoples are great indeed.

Let us Malaysian knows the Truths of all the Truths.
Wish you best of health and enjoy your every sweet moments.
Tun,
why dont the govt abolish car import duties ?
example ; if a brand new toyota sells for 40k instead of 80k the people can save alot and at the same time our national car can try to be more independent and compete with other nations carmaker.. that alone can make a big difference.. just my 2 cents..
Tun,
Goodday honourable sir,
From my point of view, paklah must step down immediately.. this is the only way.. And the other crooks around him such as najib, hisamuddin, nazri, muhd taib, khairy j and the other few guys should also be chased out from goverment.. BN needs reformation.. Restructure.. paklah has done enough damages for malaysian to suffer for few years when he started to rule.. today, our nation are extremely suffering because of paklah.. Oil has gone tremendously high.. Other goods and materials has gone crazily up too.. Yet, this is only the beginning for a far greater disaster for our beloved country.. we can only overcome all this by cleaning BN.. I'm suffering, family, relatives, friends, surrounding, everybody suffering.. I believe that now, its in the hand of every malaysian to change the fate of our country.. i dont know how, but i wont stand and watch our nation collapse.. May you always guide us with your writing and wisdom.. Knowledge is power..
God bless you..
Salam Tun...
TUN 90:10 PAK LAH
Pak Lah tak boleh haraplah sebab
1) Tak pandai Berniaga - duit masuk berbanding keluar lebih tinggi duit keluar sebab tak de bisness...
2) Bila duit dah kurang Rakyat kena tanggung dengan naikan harga minyak jika dulu zaman Tun sikit naik boleh terima la...
3) Wahai Pak Lah bilalah nak turun Tahta tu...
JIKA NAK CAKAP BANYAK LAGI BAGILAH LAH KAT ORANG LAIN

It is sorry to know that , we have
to export our high quality oil and
import oil of lower quality. If
our country were advanced
enough ,we would have processed
this high quality crude oil into a
higher value product and reaps a
higher income.That is the
current oil crises has also send
an important message to us, we
need to be excellent in science
and technology ,if we want to be
master of ourselves.The bestow of
commodity such as oil will not
guarantee our future destination.
Malaysia was once benefited from
TIN MINING but what happened to
Tin industry today?Let us be
united ,to think openly , act
positively,to find solution for
sustainable development for our nations
Sincerely Yours'
HOHO
we all love u!
Maafkan saya kerana terpaksa berkata begini. Saya terpaksa doakan agar Paklah cepat sakit. Harga susu anak saya dah naik RM20 setin, minyak kereta dah macam air. Saya bukan sengaja nk benci paklah tapi Paklah lah yang buat supaya org benci dia. Hidup kami SENGSARA kerana Paklah.... Tak sampai hati pulak saya nak doakan dia macam ni. Ok la saya tak jadi doakan dia tak sihat etc. Tapi tolong step-down dan seluruh rakyat Malaysia akan bersorak gembira. Hanya itulah permintaan kami.
Kalau esok Tun buka satu parti baru, sya antara yg akan mendaftar & memberi sokongan penuh. Hidup Tun Mahathir
seriously,i dont know what's going on with Malaysia right now..about d oil price,i dont blame Petronas because they have to obey the government..it is government who actually gives the orders...isnt it...thay have to seal everything coz the govt said so..n people putting all d blame to them...i think Pak Lah is d sole person to blame..he aint no leader..i doubt that he knows what he's doing..it's time to change the government..people are not blind anymore, thay can think...is there any solution for this???why we can unite??plz set aside all d politics prob and try to think about d people, for God sake
Kenapa tak mahu mendengar pandangan rakyat dahulu, dengar saranan rakyat dahulu, buat persediaan rapi untuk mengurangkan kesan kenaikan harga minyak terhadap rakyat.Ini pergi dengar perkembangan rating penarafan antarabangsa Moody, Standard Poor untuk buat keputusan ekonomi buat apa? Tak langsung menunjukkan situasi sebenar ekonomi dan keperluan negara.
Macam kami penduduk Sarawak, banyak pakai enjin bot perahu, generator elektrik api, tak dapat pun rebate dari pos office.Ini tak termasuk dalam penarafan Moodys.
Pemimpin yang dipilih Tun dulu kurang bijak.Daripada Tun hentam dia, lebih baik biarkan sahaja, sokong siapa dia mahu pilih jadi penganti atau cadangankan siapa patut ganti dia.
Dear Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, there are individuals who prefer to know your view on the increase of the prices of petrol and diesel in Malaysia and how these increases affect, effect, and impact upon the life of Malaysians.
Please share your wisdom. Possibly a solution. I thank you...
I am not able to see the whole picture yet, however this is a short piece on what I can possibly see happening in Malaysia.
